Well I picked up this pro-modeler Daytona not too long ago and I decided to build it as a mild custom. Right now I'm just doing some basic clean up and prep before paint. Plans are a gloss black body with a semigloss wing and tail stripe. I am unsure on the interior color as of yet. Maybe red or black but we shall see as the project progresses.

I am using a lot of the optional racing parts in the pro-modeler issue but it will still be a street car when finished.

On this build I have used plastikote primer for the first time and it is some very good stuff. I will defiantly use a lot more on future projects.

Thanks guys.

I got some work on the motor done and the body painted. I'm going to do the wing and tail stripe in satin black like originally planned but i'm also going to do the hood and the tops of the nose/fenders in satin too kinda like the aar cuda. I think it will be a nice subtle two tone while keeping it all in the mopar family. The body has quite a bit of orange peel but it should buff out nice.

Interestingly, I love your mock-up. Must be the open steelies, or the poseable front wheels, or the overall attitude. I dig that first pic!

Because he wants it that way?

I was asking the OP, but thanks for replying for him anyways...

I got to looking at it closer, i see that it's just the top of the nose, fenders, engine bay and part of the cowl that is flat. When i first seen it, it looked like the whole front clip was flat black. That's why i was asking, i was a little confused to what the reasoning behind a whole front clip being flat. But makes sence seeing it follows the top of the body line.

Thanks!

I wanted to break up all the black and since I decided to run with a flat tail stripe I decided to do the tops of the fenders and nose in flat kinda like the aar cuda. I wanted to keep the graphics theme in the mopar family and I never seen it done on a daytona before.

This thing deflinitely looks cool in the different tones of black. I saw one of these done in protouring style in the new Fast Six commercial. Hopefully between yours and the movie more people are inspired to drag these out and build them.

This is looking tuff as (insert swear word)!

If I got my hands on one of these I'd just HAVE to do it Joe Dirt style.
