crazyjim Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I love this kit! This time I went with no chrome - except on the engine. Paint is HOK black with a HOK true blue stripe fogged in and then covered with HOK purple/blue shift micro flake. Those are Ma's Resin M/T Sportsman tires out back (excellent tires) and my first attempt at something new - scratch built muffler clamps (thanks to John Anspach for the tutorial at a FAST meeting). If you happen to have served in combat in Vietnam, the rear plate should say it all.
bpletcher55 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 YOU HAD ME RIGHT UP UNTIL I SAW THOSE WHEELS !
crazyjim Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 NO CHROME! I was trying something different,Blair. I'm usually a chrome wheel person.
slusher Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Beautiful build, i like the 2 color theme you went with. Very nice work.
cobraman Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I wasn't feeling the blue wheels at first but after looking at your build a couple more times their growing on me. Nothing wrong with trying something different. Nice build !
crazyjim Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Thanks, guys. No chrome is not my style - just had to try it though.
CrazyGirl Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Now I understand the Crazy in your name Jim ,cause that build is Crazy Cool , nice nice !!!!!!
crazyjim Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 And a Crazy thank you, CrazyGirl from CrazyJim. Crazy, huh?
TFchronos Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Very interesting, when most people color their rims they do black. This light blue is really something else. I salute you for thinking outside the box on this one, it worked out well. I really like it, the ghost strip is wild, great job.
crazyjim Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Thank you fellas. The ghost stripe came out pretty well, I think.
Quick GMC Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Looks good without chrome. This gives me an idea, maybe an 80's themed Nova. Black with fluorescent pink, yellow and green
Jantrix Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I think some pics of this out in the sun might be a good idea Jim. That last shot gives us a taste of whats going on, but I suspect some sunlight will really show it off.
crazyjim Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Thanks - and I'll try to get a sunshine shot posted.
W-409 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 This has really that '80s Pro Street vibe with those painted bumbers and blue wheels. Usually I wouldn't be a fan of them, but for this one they fit perfectly. Nice paint job too, Shiny! Great Job.
Pro Wrench Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 WOW! Those wheels were a surprise to the retinas! I like it! And my dad did 3 tours in Vietnam so I know exactly what that license plate says.
Mister Twister Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I don't like the blue wheels Jim but I do like how you carried the color theme through out the entire build. Nice work!
crazyjim Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Thanks, guys. No chrome is different for me, but I think it worked on this build. Curt - please tell your Dad that I said Welcome Home, Brother.
fatkidd Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 looks good, Jim. I'm with the popular vote about the wheels, but all in all it turned out nicely. looks like the student HAS been paying attention.
crazyjim Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Thanks, Fatkidd. I'm old but trying to learn from you. Those micro flakes are so cool. I forgot to mention it but there's a Fatkidd II distributor in there too. SHINY :) RULES!
