vitanvk Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) Hello. I am a modeller from Bulgaria and like very much building rally cars. I decided to produce a full multimedia resin kit of Mazda Rx 7 Group B car and would like to show you the progress. As a starting base i will use Tamiya and Monogram kit. First, i casted the Tamiya body, before the big transformation Then i decided to use the second casted body and make the fenders. Very rough, but after the putty it will take a good shape Regards, Vitan Edited May 7, 2013 by vitanvk
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) That's gonna be sweet! I like it... Most of these old RX 7s around here are in BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH condition and sound like a broken lawn mower... Edited May 7, 2013 by DragLoKustomz619
LAone Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Nice start to what looks like is going to be a sweet build.
IMSANUT Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Looking very cool. Looks like it would be easy to convert this to an IMSA spect GTU car as well. What are you planning on charging for this?
Miatatom Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Looks great! Here is a RX-7 that I want to build some day. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/aos/aos47453.htm Speaking of WRC, how about Sebastien Loeb coming out of semi-retirement and beating everyone else in Argentina by almost a minute. He is the greatest!
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Nice work on the flender flares. Cool trick with the 1:1photo viewed at the same angle as the model. Definitely a good way to judge the correct proportions of your modifications.

What are you planning on charging for this? Hi, i am still working on the project and do not have final cost of it yet. It is planned as a detailed multimedia kit with photoetched parts, engine and decals, which means more parts, but the price will be reasonable for such a kit and similar to what other brands charge or a little less:) Thanks to all for the kind comments, this definitley motivates more:) Edited May 8, 2013 by vitanvk
roadstermatt Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 looks good I have seen one of these cars being driven in anger they are quite spectaular
jtsimeral Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Very nice Vitan! The RX7 has always been one of my favorites. Jerry
Jonathan Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Very nice. As you can see from my avatar, the RX-7 is one of my favorite cars. I have 1985 sitting in the garage right now. And...your work is most excellent! Edited May 8, 2013 by Jonathan

Might I request that the spoiler be a separate piece rather than molded to the body? It would make what I'd want to d a whole lot easier. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing the progress!!!
vitanvk Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) Hello, i guess the spoiler will be a separate part anyway because there is a radiator under it And a little, but important update. The wheels for the model were created. They came out really nice i think. Meanwhile, the work on the body continues, so i hope soon i will be able to show this to you finished. vitanvk Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 Hi, Time for a little update on the project. I have received the 3D printed wheels and would say i am very happy with the result:) Meanwhile i continue with the work on the body and the details-the skeleton for front lights was done and now it has to be shaped. i also corrected the front and rear bumpers and the front hood. Lots of work has been done and as you see lots of work still needs to be done….. Therefore not so much to see, actually everything appeared to be a bit more complex than i thought at the beggining...but i guess i got the spirit of the car already.. Work continues,
Scuderia Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Nice start to what looks like is going to be a sweet build. I agree, and your casting of a whole body is quite inspiring in itself. I'm watching this in great anticipation!
itsclayyoo Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I love it I had a 1:1 1984 rx-7 gsle single turbo. Unfortunately I totaled it but I can't wait to see thi s build finished!
vitanvk Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Hi, i hope you didn't forget this project:))))) Here is a little update:
greasemonkey1697 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I love the way this build is going along. It makes me think of the '82 Rx-7 that a friend and I swapped a 13B sequential turbo motor into, these cars are a blast to drive. I'm definitely going to follow this
Jeremy Jon Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Looking good Vitan, looking forward to seeing more!
formulaking Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Well as soon as you cast it, I want two copies. Just email me. Wilmer
