Greg Myers Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) Good luck on the rear fender / body fit. I've built two and could never get it right. Edited May 17, 2013 by Greg Myers
slammedi'am Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 Thanks everyone....Im just gonna open it up a lil bit.....And make a template for the other side
slammedi'am Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Small update...Git in primer then got some color....Deleted the bumpers on it and opened the rear fender well up a bit.......Starting to get there....I still need to wet sand and respray the body.....It is actually green pics made it turn out bluish
ScaleDale Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 yea i like the scoop too..........i would lose the headlights tho, they lightened gassers up any way they could, drillin holes everyhwere, removing parts that werent needed... very cool project!cheersbryanWorking headlights and tail lights were required in the NHRA for gas class cars back in the day when this car would have run. Here's a discussion over in Tips and Tricks on gassers.http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75183Any supercharged car would run a scoop.Dale
Duntov Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 You need to step outside of your comfort zone more often..... this is some nice work....
slammedi'am Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Thanks everyone....I love to build the pro touring cars but had to stepp away for a bit and this kit was the perfect one to change it up...Should have some done tomorrow on it
slammedi'am Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Well the sun went away on me but managed to get a couple more coats of paint, decals on and got 1 coat of clear on it...Hopefully I can shoot another coat tomorrow and try to get the pics to show the actual color instead of turning bluish like its doing...I borrowed the decals from the 57 Ford....
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) Looking really fine. These things make great looking gassers. I like your wheel choice too, but one thing about those skinny-spoke front wheels is that they were spindle-mounts, which would make it hard to mount front brakes, a required item on gassers. Seems like I've seen some early Halibrand or Airheart front discs adapted to run behind these wheels. Yup. Edited May 27, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy

Are you using the duplicolor clear? All my paint is from them
Mrdarkmonkey96 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 All my paint is from them are you airbrushing it? it looks quite glassy!
slammedi'am Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 are you airbrushing it? it looks quite glassy! Nope straight from the can VERY NICE!!! (where did you get the hood scoop?) Thanks.Scoop was included in the kit
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Sweet thanks for the heads up on it...Ill figure out a way for some front brakes on it. There's a version of this wheel that mounts with bolts / studs, allowing the use of conventional brakes. Just another option, depending on what period you're building and how 'legal' you want to be under whichever rules would apply in 1:1.
slammedi'am Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 I got the spindle mount wheels but Ill figure a way to put some disc on it..
slammedi'am Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Decide to do a quick mock up before final assembly starts
AzTom Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 That looks great, love the color. Very nice paint and the decals fit nicely.
