checkmate Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Here's a link to the latest Holden HSV Commodore GTS, for those unaware of Holden or HSV, Holden is the Australian GM brand and HSV is Holden Special Vehicles. Holden manufactured the 2004 Pontiac GTO's that were exported to the states, apparently according to some sources Australia is the only country in the world that still wants V8 RWD cars. Holden are also the makers of the new Chevrolet SS sedans, they're a rebadged SS Holden Commodore. http://www.news.com.au/national-news/hsv-commodore-super-sedan-is-holdens-fastest-ever/story-fncynjr2-1226629539865
martinfan5 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Holden are also the makers of the new Chevrolet SS sedans, they're a rebadged SS Holden Commodore. I think rebadaged SS is better
checkmate Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 I think rebadaged SS is better I'd rather a V8 Holden with a diff in the back than any Jap import or FWD tuner or even worse a hybrid.
hvymtl Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Thanks for the link . But don't worry Rob , There are those of us here in the States that still crave RWD. Me personally I cant really afford a new one.but i drive one every day (15mpg) Love that Flowmaster sound. Going to start looking for a GTO (Monaro) here next summer. Wife wants a stick (manual ) . Also i really love that Sandman you have there.sweet ride Michael
checkmate Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 We had a 2002 VY SS Commodore and it use to get 10Litres per 100kilometres which I think is pretty good for a 5.7 Litre V8 auto. The LS series motors really get up with a little "tweaking"
Guest G Holding Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) My painter has a 05 like this one, Foose wheels,a bit of carbon fiber, and a small power adder by Novi... A real surprise....very streetable, as it is his wifes daily driver I don't care for the "new" grill / fascia.....looks like a lexis Edited May 11, 2013 by G Holding
W-Machine Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 You Aussies have some cool, locally-produced rides. I also like the utes a lot, and wish we could get them in the USA.
iBorg Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I soooooo want the new GTO. Sadly finances won't allow it right now. I'm sure once I can pay today's prices, tomorrow's will be much higher. These will have to be a major collector's item.
The70judgeman Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I'd rather a V8 Holden with a diff in the back than any Jap import or FWD tuner or even worse a hybrid. So would I.
HomerS Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Much like the G8 truck, it'll never make it state side.I hope GM does a better marketing job with the new Chevy SS than they did when brought in the same car as the Pontiac G8.

I googled G8 truck and got a lot of sweet pics..including this one, I didn't think this was a Holden.....
checkmate Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Does it have a Hemi ? Doesn't need one, it eats Hemi's.
checkmate Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Do you think these would be popular? It's a Commodore ute with a Camaro front, the guy that did it does them as a conversion kit now.
checkmate Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Here's an older model ute from here, it's a VU Holden ute with twin turbo's. Bit more grunt than a HSV too.
martinfan5 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Do you think these would be popular? It's a Commodore ute with a Camaro front, the guy that did it does them as a conversion kit now. I like that

These will have to be a major collector's item. Can't get a NEW GTO as they AND Pontiac Motor Division NO longer exist! TRY to find a used one at a reasonable REALISTIC price. I on my THIRD 95 Impala SS. One was hit by a drunk old woman, it's replacemant was STOLEN out of a GM Plant PARKING LOT, and IT's replacement STAYS in my garage. it JUST turned 99,000 miles. It's a GREAT car, and it's my last hot rod.
CJ1971 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I googled G8 truck and got a lot of sweet pics..including this one, I didn't think this was a Holden..... Doesn't look like any Holden I've ever seen... Not in my 42yrs down here. That's an El-Camino/Impala, mate.
