I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I am beside myself with fright ,, I am 60 years old and I have my very first cavity ,, the last time I spoke to a dentist was 30 odd years ago , I have only seen dental hygienist for cleaning , and this cavity thing has me freaked out beyond my wildest imagination and when i go for a cleaning more often than not I pass out from that alone ,,,,,,,,,,,, now this , what is gonna happen , uggggggggggggg

Grind away with Dremel tool

Remove tooth with ice skate and rock

Try not to worry. The anticipation is the worst part. Chin up, shoulders back. One cavity is a very small amount of work.

Perhaps your dentist would be generous enough to donate some of those handy dental burrs to your collection of grinding and shaping tools. They work great with your Dremel, and the smaller sizes are perfect for drilling out tailpipes and the like. My dentist is one of the good guys and gave me a whole bunch after I told him I was a car modeler. Dental equipment is practically designed to be used (off-label) as modeling tools. Your friendly dentist might even give you an equipment catalog that you can order stuff from.

Don't freak out about the cavity, it's not that big of a deal.

Cavities are nothing now-a-days with novacane and all the modern age materials they use. The epoxies cured by light would sit in my arsenal very well! All the tools that W-machine mentions are also very nice.

My childhood dentist was nearing retirement and his practice was from the '40's. He did outstanding work but he was NOT painless. It's SO much different today. It's more nuisance than trauma so getting psyched out is just wasting energy. It'll be fine.

They have come a long way as to managing pain now! There is always nitrous!

it won't be bad...i have a real problem w/needles...i have had teeth filled w/out anything for fear of needles...they will most likely use numbing agent on your gums before using the needle...since they have started doing this my visists to the dentist have been much better...once they numb the nerve of the affected tooth they will drill out the decay put a clamp around the tooth and fill it...half hour and your good as new...promise yourself a new modle or a niffy tool for the workbench after its over.

What a baby!! Come on, Anne. This 2013 and they are kinds of ways to prevent pain. Keep this in mind - lay one of your arms over the rest - the side the dentist is on. IF he hurts you, just quickly raise your arm real quick in his crotch.

23 years old and had about 8 root canals, 6 crowns and quite a lot of fillings, don't worry about the dentist they do it so well now, after all teeth are separate and with lidocaine it should never hurt a bit.

I have 2 crowns and 6 veneers. The crowns were done twice. I knocked my teeth out on a bike, like shattered them in 100 pieces. The first crowns were cut with a metal cut-off wheel, then pulled out with pliers. My other teeth were ground down with a grinding wheel, then veneers put over. The oral surgeon is my cousin. She had one foot on the chair when she was yanking my front teeth out. I was awake the whole time, although HEAVILY sedated. I think you'll be fine with a cavity.

wow , it took him a total of 4 minutes to fix this tiny cavity , the drilling was maybe tops 20 seconds , the cavity was like the size of the dot of an I and the best part , he didn't charge me !!!
