Would there be any interest in a RHD (right hand drive) conversion kit for a datsun 510? I am turning mine into a RHD and was pondering casting things like the dash, firewall, ect and selling them? What about aftermarket parts for the 510?

I'd like to see a resin body with correct stock wheel wells.

Phew, I'm not the only one who wants a stock body. I've looked at the differences between the stock and the revell kit and it is doable, but I only have one 510 and don't want to risk destroying the wheel wells. The big thing is getting the correct shape and replacing the right ammount of body for it. If I get any more Datsun 510's I will attempt that and I would love to make a 510 Wagon. These old Datsun's are so sweet

There used to be a stock-bodied 510 4-door available from Hasegawa many years ago. I had considered grafting the wheel arches from this kit onto the Revell version for a stock two-door, but never went through with it. I had also considered dumping the Revell chassis underneath the Hasegawa body, but I would have had to extend the wheelbase for the conversion to work. Oh, well...

Thanks for the heads up Ken. The hardest part would be the rear wheel arches because it's a four door. I just might have to do that.

The kit is still available from Hasegawa and comes in two flavors, stock and Rally. Nice curbside kit, and virtually spot on dimensionaly with the Revell two door, which makes it 1/24th, where as there 240z is woefully undersized body wise.

The Revell 510 is 1/25th.

I've been looking around at my stash of Datsun's and I think I have come up with some parts that are interchangeable between a few kits. Some correct and some that could be used for Customs/phantoms. Maybe I can make a few bucks selling resin Datsun parts, I'm not saying for sure but I think I might.

There's a guy in Japan that did a couple full blown detail 510's from the revell kits. One BRE and a stock one with stock fenders

I'll post a link of his blog later tonight.

It is marked as a 1/25th scale, but in that it seems to be very close in size toi the Hasegawa kit, Itg is closer to 1/24th than 1/25th.

'nother vote for a wagon here...

just missed a deal on a 1:1 a couple of years ago

only offshore vehicle I was ever interested in other than a '70 Celica or an MG

I am looking into trying to mate the rear of the BossNova Funny Car wagon onto the Hasegawa four door kit to try and make a wagon. As for the Revell kit, I have a spare body and I think the Doyusha Bluebird wheel wells might work on it. But, I also conisdered cutting off the flares and making a box flared 510 out of it.

Another option is to convert the four door Hasegawa kit into a two door. Remember, the wheelbase on the four door and the two door cars are the same and a few have actually done this conversion on the 1:1 cars. Just something to think about.
