Austin T Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Trying to find a modern V6 in 1/25th scale for my 510. I can use the Buick V6 out of the Opel GT but I'd rather have a modern one. What kits if any have a modern V6? It can't be a straight 6,already tried getting one in there,no use.
Guest G Holding Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Shorten any V8....in the middle, unless you need accuracy
Austin T Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 Thank you guys so much for the quick responses. Is the Grand national kit turbocharged (I think the reals ones are,but I'm not a buick guy).
1930fordpickup Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Yes Austin that is what makes it a Grand National ,Turbo.
Austin T Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 Thanks guys for the responses I think I have a grand national glue bomb around here somewhere that I can rob the engine from. The one thing I know already is that the transmission will be to big, the 510 has a tiny transmission and it's snug to begin with.

You might want to try the 3.5L V6 from the AMT Plymouth Prowler kit, too. It's very nicely detailed and is 1/25 scale, but it has a rear mounted transaxle, similar to what the newer Corvettes and the Porsche 944(?) use. That might help with the trans tunnel clearance issues.

SSNJim Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Shorten any V8....in the middle, unless you need accuracy Removing two cylinders worked for GM... If you want to be accurate, it was cylinders 3 & 6 of the Small Block Chevy.
azers Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 The indy 500 firebird by amt has a twin turbo v6 and its a little on the smallish side and 1/25 not 1/24 like the grand national.
Deathgoblin Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 How about the AMT Dodge Stealth? Twin turbo power? Also the Jaguar XJ220 if you want something a little weirder.
Austin T Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 I like the ideas here, I also like the idea of twin turbos. I might have to check out the prowler kit, anyone got pictures of it?
Foxer Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I'm where I can't get my camera as I have one in the basement, but here's a shot of the motor on the instruction sheet.
crazyjim Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I have a complete '97 Prowler engine here. I put a hemi in my Prowler build. Let me know if you're interested.
Austin T Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Thanks guys for the pictures. I'm gonna be gone till Thursday so I'll hold off on trying to contact someone about an engine till later. Thanks so much.
