LongRoofNut Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I still need some photo etch scripts for the fender and trunk lip for the Cutlass name plate but other than that shes done!
Porscheman Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Beautiful build. I like the color and the stock wheel covers. Growing up in NW Chicago suburbs, I'm use to the GMO package with the Old's wheels and trim rings.Excellent.Al
Chris White Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 very nice, I learned to drive on a burgundy 73 version
AZ Boy Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Very nice! My first car was the 75 Cutlass Salon and this brings back memories.
bbowser Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Very convincing, especially with the outdoor pictures. Nice work.
Helix Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Very nice Jonny, nice touch with the 'panama' hat on the parcel shelf !
slusher Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 WOW, thats a great looking model. Great paint and finish...
Sixties Sam Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Beautiful build! Looks very real in the photos. Nice color, and well done! Sam
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Very nice ! My first car was a red 76 Cutlass S... As much as I like custom cars, I am lovin this... Do tell , where did the mirrors come from?
LongRoofNut Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Thank you everyone for the kind words. The Olds was a $3.00 find at a swap meet and was a test mule for trying Duplicolor paint on kits. As you can see I am happy with the result. The rear view mirrors were from AMTs 1976 Ford/Mazda small pick up.
Eric N. Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Very nice! My first car was a 76 Cutlass. Great color! Eric
Tonioseven Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Beautiful build of a cool car!! My neighbor had one of these when I was a child; I remember when they brought it home from the dealership. It was light metallic blue with a white interior!! You've done it justice!!!
W-409 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 This is nice! Nice paint work, looks like your test turned out very well. Also the clean assembly looks very good, no gaps or anything between parts. Nice job, and I like the body style a lot too, since it's the same as '74 Chevelle, which is sitting down in the garage. But anyway, you did a great job.
charlie8575 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Nice. I'd like to see a better shot of the trunk- is that a dealer sticker I see? Charlie Larkin
LongRoofNut Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Niko:I have a soft spot for the A-body from '73 to '77 since I own a '76 Monte Carlo and a '73 Century wagon. Charlie: Good eye! I try to put in all the little details I can from city/town stickers, parking stickers, dealer stickers, etc. I would like to start adding valve stems and black washing the doors, just have not figured out an easy way to do that.
W-409 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I would like to start adding valve stems and black washing the doors, just have not figured out an easy way to do that. You mean the door lines / panel lines between the door and rest of the body? If so, I was in the same trouble while ago, when a friend of mine showed me Tamiya's Panel Line Accent colors. They are great with a sharp brush on the Bottle Top. Just dip it in the liquid and touch the panel line, it will make nice and smooth black washes for them. It is also available in different colors, but black has worked me very nicely.
