crazyjim Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Here's some pics of a '56 Ford I just finished in HOK pink. Everything except the engine details and sucken antennas was in the kit. By the way, the kit was loaded with flash.
'70 Grande Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Nice build of this vintage, (and one of my favorite), kits. You don't see this one built-up as a custom to frequently anymore, but your build proves that it builds up into a very nice one! Your paint color choices are excellent as well; nice job!
crazyjim Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Thank you, Mark. I tried not to go too exotic because I built it for an IPMS review.
cobraman Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Looks good. I might have to build another one of those.
crazyjim Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks, Ray. I might want to build another one too. Next time, though, I'll make my own hinges, do something else with the taillights, and remove the chrome trim on the front fenders and half the door leaving only the straight piece. I'd use different wheels too.
Sixties Sam Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Very cool, Jim! I like the 56's. The doors on those kits are buggers, though. Mine never want to stay closed or fit right. I used that custom front end on a 56 I built a few years ago. You can see what I mean about the doors in this pic:
crazyjim Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks, Sam. Yours is a very cool build. Those are about factory colors as I recall.
Ramfins59 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Great build Jim. I have this kit in line to build for my "Class of '56" group.
crazyjim Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks, Rich. Hope your kit doesn't have all the flash I had.
Jantrix Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 You are really banging them out Jim. This looks excellent.
realgone58 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The flash is due to it being an old mold with many of re-issue miles on it! Looks very cool, Jim. I love the color and the steelies/dog dishes and white walls.
crazyjim Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks guys. G - the interior is from the kit and it's very nice. Next time I plan to use snaps so the front seats will swivel.
Chris White Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I like it, Jim. I am always a big fan of your stuff
Joker Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Glad to see another '56 Ford ... I solved the door issue by scoring the vent window frame on the inside and then tilt the frame inward..afterwards a small strip of styrene was added to the top of the frame. To keep the doors shut for display ,I added small magnets to the inside of the door and added steel washers to the body jamb. Shuts just fine.
crazyjim Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Thanks, Bill. The interior is out of the box. I just painted it.
