That would be awesome as I've been trying to get a resin '60 El-Camino body for awhile. Bandit Resins did offer one, but the mold is shot and it's been taking awhile to make a new one.

So we all know "they" read the boards, who will jump first, as they both have a head start with the tooling from their older kits?

Just a body for AMT / Round2. ;)

A body and a little change in the chassis for Revell, but wait, there's more. Changing up the Impala to a station wagon chassis will let them do a Panel Delivery also. :D and a Station Wagon. :P The El Camino being based on the station wagon chassis. ^_^

Someone on another board said they had heard that Round 2 was doing the 1960 off the ancient '59 kit. Probably not true since that would be a major investment in a 50 year old tool. And they haven't modified anything that extensively to date.

But dreaming, it may be possible for them to do a new body insert, and a new chrome tree. I'm not sure if there are differences in the interior and dashboard.

It would involve tooling for a new body shell (what a surprise!), along with a new chrome tree, new taillights and a new interior tub and seat--'60 dash was the same as the '59 (could be that the CHEVROLET badge across the passenger side "cove" on the dash was different, but I dunno about that. Chassis and all the greasy parts would have been the same, I'm pretty sure. The bigger question would be IF the chrome tree can be revised from the original tooling or not though--It's my understanding that in a lot of cases, those parts, particularly if the chrome tree wasn't large, it was cut integral with the mold base as opposed to being a smaller tool "inserted" into the mold base. Only those who have access to the tooling could know that for sure.

Great build on that "Elky" Joker, what kit are those skirts from? Thanks.

Thanks...got them at a show in Houston a long time ago.

Sorry I don't have any info on them.

I would buy a few of them but I'm not holding my breath . It's too much of an investment for new tooling or to modify existing tooling and there really isn't that much demand for a '60 El Camino , except for me . . . I love 'em !

In the mean time you can build one using the Revell Impala and the cab and bed from the '59 AMT El Camino .

Here's mine .

You did good on finding that assortment of skirts. I'll have to check the swap meets myself.

It 's about time we had a nice modern full detail '60 El Camino. Any year Ranchero would be nice too!

Sure , I'd go for one . Meanwhile , ken at bandit resins still offers a really nice Resin copy of the S M P kit...................

I've had both '59 and '60 El Camino kits, and the '59 seems a bit smaller than the '60 - or is it the '60 that's too big?

The AMT/SMP '60 El Camino kit isn't particularly accurate (or even symmetrical!) in any respect, so I'd vote for it's being too big and the later Trophy Series '59 being just about right. Though I doubt the real '59 Elky had star-shaped bolt heads similar to those in the engine compartment of AMT's kit!

That said, I'd love to have a simple, curbside Snap-Tite kit of '60 with an accurate body and interior.

I had a for real on the street , hot rod, four speed, three two, '60 El Camino for many years. I also have the afor mentioned SMP stuck away in a donor AMT '59 box and I can tell you it fits fine, looks fine, and will most certainly fill the void. ;)

I could'nt say that a new 60 impala kit, would be the end all save all of the universe. However, I would'nt mind seeing a new kit done in a manner that would be Accurate, would always be welcomed.
