cobraman Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) Next build will be the Lindberg 37 Ford kit in the stupid box that opens on the ends. This is the same kit as the Testors Smoothster. Have started some modifications to the body. I have added trim to the fenders which will be foiled after the paint job. Also adding some strips on the rear fenders sort of like open skirts. Just trying something different. Car will be yellow or blue most likely. Edited September 11, 2013 by cobraman
crazyjim Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 The body looks really rough, Ray. Did you prime it? I wouldn't shoot yellow over that dark a primer.
cobraman Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 It is just a working coat of primer. More body work needed and there will be a wet sanding and a lighter primer prior to the color coats.
jeffs396 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Anxious to see how this turns out Ray, keep it going!
slusher Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Looking forward to your progress Ray, l have never seen this kit built...
b_lever1 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Looks good Ray never ever looked at these kits that does look nice may have to find me one of these! Wife says work on the house first LOL I will be buying one of these somewhere. Are they a full detail kit ??
cobraman Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Yes it is a full detail kit and so far it looks pretty darn nice.
Blown03SVT Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 The chassis in the kit and the LT1 motor is probably one of the best examples of a modern Boyd street rod. I have builf the smoothster and the coupster and they are tons of fun too build.
tooltas Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 i like the couper the bests that blower set up is some nice
Randy D Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Hi Ray, I was only gone a little while and I think I'm two of your builds behind Look foward to watching this one! Randy
cobraman Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Making progress on this one. It's kind of an experiment that I am not sure yet if it worked. I did some mods such as the body at the rear wheel wells and added trim to all fenders which were covered with BMF. I filled the tail lights and drilled new holes for them. They are recessed in the body. Still needs to be finished and touch ups are still required. Thanks for looking and comments pro or con are welcome.
crazyjim Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I like the chrome on top of the fenders and the jury is still out on the rear wheel well. Maybe if you would have thinned out the inside a bit I'd like it more. But who am I? It's your build and it's SHINY
cobraman Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 I don't disagree with you at all. I just like to try different things. Sometimes they work out, sometimes not. Many times something looks better in my mind then in the finished product. Ya don't know till ya try sometimes. I was going to fully skirt the front and rear wheel wells but changed my mind.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I like it... its different than the normal and thats a good thing... Cool points for your work...
Modlbldr Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I like it very much. I think that the chrome strips on the fenders are a nice touch and the strip at the bottom of the fenderwell would benefit from thinning the back a bit, but it suits the car well. Nice job all around. Later-
cobraman Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 This build is finished. Photos in "Under Glass" soon if interested.
