Erik Smith Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) What if we really did not start the fire We didn't. It was always burning, since the world was turning. Edited September 13, 2013 by Erik Smith
Harry P. Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 After that TV show I think everyone does.
Tom Geiger Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 After that TV show I think everyone does. We NJers get blamed for that one while most of the show characters are NOT from New Jersey! My daughters do know Sammie, who grew up in our town. My elder daughter was her camp councilor.
johnbuzzed Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Jersey (as we LI'ers call it) is not all "The Sopranos" or "Jersey Shore", nor is it all turnpike exits and refineries. It's like anywhere else with nice places and... not-so-nice places. Just like New York- it's not all like Manhattan. What if we could shrink our real cars down to 1/25 scale?
Draggon Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 What if contemporary cars had real names that made some sense, instead of imaginary words as model names? Who would want to drive an "Armada"? What about a "Flotilla" or "Squadron"? What if people knew that the "MK" used by Lincoln actually is an abbreviation for "mark", as in version, as in Continental Mark 4. "MKZ"... I don't think that sounds appealing at all. Nissan makes an Armada. Ive seen one. Made my Durango feel like a compact. Actually, I'd like to drive something named "Squadron". On a weirder note, what if the internal combustion engine didnt work out and steam was the motivating force? Imagine how that would affect flight.
Harry P. Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 What if we could shrink our real cars down to 1/25 scale? And do what with them? Maybe enter them in contests and win "Best Detail?"
johnbuzzed Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Nah, then we could do like Steve Martin suggested and "get small" . Go for a little cruise. Bother the cat...
JunkPile Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Nah, then we could do like Steve Martin suggested and "get small" . Go for a little cruise. Bother the cat... "fall through the speaker holes in the dash"
Joe Handley Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Nissan makes an Armada. Ive seen one. Made my Durango feel like a compact. Actually, I'd like to drive something named "Squadron". On a weirder note, what if the internal combustion engine didnt work out and steam was the motivating force? Imagine how that would affect flight. Had one of those monstrosities park next to my Cherokee once and that thing actually completely obscured my little Jeep from view when I approached them......all I could think was, I know I parked right over there, where is it?
Joe Handley Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 And do what with them? Maybe enter them in contests and win "Best Detail?" Nah, some clown would complain about an inaccuracy in the build.
blunc Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 what if the Scripps-Booth "Behemoth" dwarfed the Nissan "Armada"?
blunc Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 If Duesenberg had joined up with the rest of the companies that came to be General Motors, would they still be making them and would they be making a standard supercharged model? If Bugatti had actually gotten his airplane to mass production and been a positive factor in WWII, would there have been a bomber version?
Danno Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 And do what with them? Maybe enter them in contests and win "Best Detail?" Naw. Somebody would complain that the proportions weren't right or the details weren't accurate.
Danno Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 i think more people would be wearing large hats. ROTFLMAO!!! Nominee for MC-Emmy in the "Best Answer Today" category.
Danno Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I read that, too. and thought to myself: why doesn't he lead by example. Amen. "All that's necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Edmund Burke. Applies to forums and posting, too.
Greg Wann Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 What if the Corvette were made from steel instead of fiberglass? Where did that darn Zbart stuff go?
Greg Wann Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 And do what with them? Maybe enter them in contests and win "Best Detail?" The oil leaks will be a snap to clean up! Just pick it up and use a BRAWNY towel
Greg Wann Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 What if pigs flew? This is a funny question. I used to have a little sign at work that said " If A holes could fly, this place would be an airport. And of course it had a picture of little A holes with wings flying to and fro. I think some boss saw it and did not think it was motivational so he got rid of it.
Tom Geiger Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 This is a funny question. I used to have a little sign at work that said " If A holes could fly, this place would be an airport. And of course it had a picture of little A holes with wings flying to and fro. I think some boss saw it and did not think it was motivational so he got rid of it. I once had a boss who used to say "this place is a warehouse for a-holes."
Danno Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I once had a boss who used to say "this place is a warehouse for a-holes." That term was a little too crude for use on law enforcement radio frequencies, so we used the euphemism "Adam Henry" . . . the phonetic pronunciation of A.H.
Agent G Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 We'd sit for hours in a "staff meeting" where the only one speaking was my then captain (Adam Henry). He was a big proponent of "what if?" What if what if what if. Anyone in law enforcement knows you can only "what if" so much. One time he concludes with "Any questions?" so I asked "What if pigs flew and monkeys jumped out of my a**?" I got the transfer I wanted the next week........................................ G
