DanielG
Pretty cool looking, but, I liked the early picture you put up showing it as a 'short box pick-up' before you did the roof. May have to steal that idea! (of course that would be like an El Camino of some kind but I think Chev did theirs a little differently) Edited February 10, 2014 by DanielG

60s era
Well I played around with the different wheel Ideas.Made one set that I really decided against.. Found another set very similar to the first pictured wheels except they have the Oldsmobile Rocket insignia on the center caps.. Once again I broke out the magnifying glass an Xacto Knife and went to work.. included is a picture of the first trial and the new set, which need to be rechromed. Am also trying to make a set of Disc Brakes for it, ( glutton for punishment I guess ).. Found some stuff in my parts bin that I think I can use for Disc Brakes - at least front maybe all 4... I guess the reason this build is taking so long is I keep adding to it...but what the Hey... Hope you enjoy the pics.. Comments Suggestions and just Chit Chat are welcomed... 60s era
Thanks All for posting.. Here is a pic of wheels with backing pads and calipers. They are still two pieces. So have to decided what color to use for the rotors as they should be shiny , but not more than the re chromed wheel.. The calipers I think red.. Any thought ' s from you all ....???? Still working and taking my time . Comments or suggestions are looked for and welcomed..Oh just a quick shout to Nigel--glad your back dude-keep getting better.. Thanks all Tom B)
1 bad55 stan
Just a thought,How about drilling the rotors and paint them silver, then paint the calipers an anodized gold,I no its a lot of work but with the amount you have already done i think it would look pretty cool, anyway your build looks great as is... 60s era
A QUICK UP DATE FOR ALL.. GOT WHEELS AND DISC BRAKES PAINTED UP ---JUST A QUICK MOCK UP.. THEY ARE NOT MOUNTED OR ALIGNED UP AS NEEDED YET. AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CHROME LOOK OF THE WHEEL.. DON''T KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG ..MAY REDO AT A LATER DATE BUT AM GOING TO PRESS ON FOR NOW.. COMMENTS LOOKED FOR AND WELCOMED.,THANKS FOR LOOKING ... TOM
w451973
I like your choice of tires with those rims. I'm not into the big wheels thing but some how I think some wide 16,17 or 18 inch SS1 style wheels would look good on here
Teddy J. Tannehill
Tom You are a Talented and Fearless Technician...And your concept is something a First Class Engineer would come up with. I like everything you have done...What will you use for windows?
ToyLvr
Tom: Been following this project and really like. Just by coincedence, at a recent car show in my area, I came across an attempt to build the real thing. See attached photos...

I have been away from it for a couple months due to a contest project for another forum, but I will return to it.. Have learned a lot in the last couple months that can and will be incorporated into the completion of this Project. Stay tuned more to come soon... 60s era
To answer Teddy J Tannehill 's post of March 12 ( sorry for such a long time to answer ). I have cut and fitted Clear Plastic ( as used in covering for different things, household items & small tools such as a sprue cutter ) Want to find something to use for a very slight tint for the side glasses -- such as window tint film -- but very light tint... Its easy to cut and shape, and fairly abundant....May not be as thick as the windows that come with a kit but I think it will be OK.. Thanks for asking....
