Psychographic Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 As I'm stalled on a current build, I decided to do a build I've had in the back of my mind for a while now. I've wanted to do either a mild radical custom or a hot rod truck. I picked up the C-600 at a local show and decided to make it my victim. Without any direction in mind I figured I'd start with a chop, I took a 1/4" out of it. Then filled the back side windows and headlights. Next I made a rollpan, relocated the headlights, and added a bit of trim to them so the bottom of the cab was not a flat slab. I also closed up the front wheelwells a bit. Filler pieces were made for the back of the cab to fill in the new extended wheelwells. Cut the first door out and fitting the inner wheelwell to the interior tub.
thom hoos Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 you should hinge the doors like the ones on the McLaren slr it would look down right awesome as well as take this kustom to a whole new level. This is just my thought
kilrathy10 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I like what you got, right here.....Looks awesome....Gonna look even more awesome when you're done.....
72 Charger Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I like this a lot your doing some cool mods keep at it
Truck parts Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Cool ride, I like what you are doing.
Psychographic Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Thanks for the comments everyone. Before going much further, I wanted to be sure the engine will fit OK and that the cab will tilt. The engine is fine and with a little trim off the front of the frame rails, the cab tilts nicely. I did a temporary Z to the frame to see if I like it. I think it's a bit too much and need to trim it down a bit. I also have about 3 ideas of what to direction to take this. One idea is to combine it with a current build I have going.
Psychographic Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) I took quite a bit out of the "Z" and started on the rear suspension. Edited September 22, 2013 by Psychographic
mikemodeler Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 That would make for a great wedge style hauler, I like the way this is going.
Psychographic Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 More work on the rear suspension.
gotnitro? Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 amazing work on the chassis! looking forward to updates !
Psychographic Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) I made some bags for the rear and will use one of the crossmembers from the kit as the upper bag mount. I decided to scrap the straight axle and go for independent front suspension. It's starting to take shape. Edited September 29, 2013 by Psychographic
Bennyg Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 This is one of the coolest things I've seen. I love it! BenWhere did you get the wheels from? Ben
Jim3 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Looking pretty cool.. Is that the Pepsi box truck kit ?
Psychographic Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 Where did you get the wheels from? Ben I think they are from a Jada Big Time Muscle diecast. Is that the Pepsi box truck kit ? Sure is.
Psychographic Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 A little more progress on the front suspension.
Bennyg Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 That's great! Will keep watching this one. Ben
cobraman Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I did something simular with a Dodge but yours is way more rad. Keep it going !
thom hoos Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Are you making any progress on this project
olsbooks Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Gonna be real interesting to see what you do with the the engine, exhaust and paint. Reminds me of the old Willys "gassers" and other crazy kits from the 60's and 70's AMT and Revell used to make. Totally obnoxious (in a good way) just waiting to happen! Very very cool. Look forward to seeing more.
thom hoos Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Do you have any up dates on this build looking forward to seeing this through to the end
