Rob Hall Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Charlie, you and Rob are the two extremes here. Rob is the total techno-geek, and if a voice-activated muffler bearing or power floor mats were offered, you know his car would have it! He's never met a gizmo or gadget he doesn't like! And you would be perfectly happy driving a Model T! Different strokes... Yes, worlds apart..21st century and 19th... There are some options I wouldn't want, though..I definitely don't want a self driving car....I don't need artificial engine sounds..I don't think I'd like some of the newer electric power steering systems either--too artificial.
Ramfins59 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 What irked me today is all the dammm rain..!!! Enough already. Every day for weeks. We can't do anything about the weather but complain...... so I'm complaining.

Danno Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I'd like to have some of that rain here...sunny, dry, dusty and triple digit temps week after week... What did you expect, Rob, when you moved to the desert?? If you move to Antarctica, you gotta expect some snow & ice.
Rob Hall Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 What did you expect, Rob, when you moved to the desert?? If you move to Antarctica, you gotta expect some snow & ice. Yeah, it's pretty disgusting..moving here was a mistake, but that's a long story.. should have stayed in Colorado.
Danno Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Yeah, it's pretty disgusting..moving here was a mistake, but that's a long story.. should have stayed in Colorado. Yeah, we miss Colorado, too. But we don't miss the snow, ice, and 5 months of cold. We knew coming here what to expect (having done our due-diligence in weather research, etc.), and made an informed decision to trade climates. Three months of semi-sweltering heat isn't so bad after you acclimate. And when we gotta have a 'mountain fix,' the Mogollon Rim area is only an hour away!

High octane Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 While I'm not really a happy "winter person," as I get older I don't think that extreme heat would be a good change for me. I can always go to Florida or the Caribbean for a vacation.

I do not miss humidity, especially when you can drink the air surrounding you. I do not mind 100+ temps, desert landscaping and palm trees. I do like, wait for it . SHOWGURLZ! G
DrGlueblob Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Sitting here in the air conditioning.. 'Bout 100 outside, but in the model room s a cool 73. Phoenix Native, wouldn't live anywhere else.

I knew about the summers here....moving here wasn't about the climate (was more of a family thing). .at least beaches are just a short flight away or 6 hr drive... May and September are usually not too bad . . . we've had a couple of hot Septembers recently, but usually not so bad. You'll know you've acclimated when you get excited during the summer about the 'cooling trend' because the daytime high temps are going to be in the upper 90s or 100 - 101. Like Chip says, it's always nice indoors.
forthlin Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Mosquitos! All this rain has given us a surplus of these nasty little bloodsuckers.

Like Chip says, it's always nice indoors. The crazy thing about September is as it cools off I actually feel chilly getting out of the pool when the air temp is 'only' 102.. one thing I've noticed since I moved here is fewer summer monsoon storms...several big storms in the summer of '08 and very little in more recent summers.

I can do without the 100+ temps and desert landscaping though (I like lush green lawns). I will be spending more time in Vegas, though...my company has an office off Fremont St now, so I'll probably be working out of there occasionally as we get more clients in LV...

my80malibu Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I used to go to Vegas about once a month.for fire truck repair. The best part of Vegas was leaving and coming home.
Harry P. Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I used to go to Vegas about once a month.for fire truck repair. The best part of Vegas was leaving and coming home. I've been there 3-4 times. Fun place, tons of stuff do do/see, even if you're not a gambler (as I am not). I saw a lot of terrific shows and ate some awesome food. Definitely a "must do" if you've never been. But I agree with you... it was nice to get back home!

Some of my coworkers go a couple times a month to go to our office there and to go to the casinos. I'm not a gambler, but I do enjoy the restaurants.
Harry P. Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I'm not a gambler, but I do enjoy the restaurants. Oh yeah, baby! Every time I've been there, I've eaten like a king! And gained the pounds to prove it!
High octane Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 While I haven't been to Vegas for five years now, I do every now and then enjoy the Vegas atmosphere when on a cruise ship, as it is just like a Las Vegas Hotel floating in the sea.
