aurfalien Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I have 3 kinds of cheddar, blue, Feta, two kinds of Swiss, Colby, jack, and a Brie....plus cream and grated Parmesan. It just may be time for a cheese-on-cheese sandwich. Oh dayam! What a treat! I'm guessing that if you love cheese, then a nice potato-leak soup is also appreciated? My wife loves my Vichyssoise but I also love it warm as well.
Crazy Ed Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Cheese huh, Let's see - Provolone, 2 kinds of Cheddar (low cal n Mine), Blue Cheese, Gouda, Montery Jack, Ricotta, 2 kinds of Mozzarella (again, his n hers) and Good ol' sliced American that's used to make not so normal Grilled Cheese Sandwich's. Mine use a crumbled dried Thai Chili and ground Swechuawn Peppercorns - immmm .
Crazy Ed Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Pizza for dinner tonight. Does that count?Only if it was scratch, homemade!
crazyjim Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Little Caesar's with extra spices and cheese. Florida is NOT known for decent pizza.
cobraman Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hey Jim, is Little Caesar's the best you got ? I thought we had it bad in Phoenix. We do have 2 decent places I found. Barro's and Rosati's. They don't compare to Chicago pizza but all in all not bad. IMO
bismarck Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 DiCarlo's with extra cheese and pepperoni......hmmmm.
High octane Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I stopped at my local Verizon store to pay my latest phone bill, and I couldn't pay for it with my credit card, only ca$h.What's up with that? And yet they'll take my credit card # over the phone or in the mail. There was no other customers in the store, but they had FIVE employees standing around, and they couldn't help me. I need to take the "time machine" back to the 20th Century.
Crazy Ed Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Little Caesar's with extra spices and cheese. Florida is NOT known for decent pizza. Jim, ya gotta learn to Roll your Own! We've got 2 Pizza Stones so we can make His n Hers Pizzas. Always Pipping HOT from the Oven Pizzas
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Relatively minor but increasingly annoying health and fitness issues, beginning to cut in to my financial productivity, and most likely the result of too much stress and not enough aerobic exercise over the last two years.Time to make some lifestyle changes. It's always east to blame "circumstances" and "getting older", but I need to make some hard choices...and then get on with making the necessary adjustments.
Danno Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hey, Ray!!! Barro's and Rosati's are pretty good, but you should check out Oregano's and Humble Pie.

I'm in the same boat... getting older and at the same time getting less and less physical exercise. It's so hard for me to get up the motivation to work out. Much easier to watch TV! But like you, I need to get my act in gear and start up some sort of regular exercise. Like they say, use it or lose it.The worst part is, as you age your metabolism naturally slows down... but my appetite hasn't! But I can't afford to eat like I did when I was 20. Again, hard to cut back when you like food so much!
XJ6 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I hear you Guys ? Felt the same way so I joined a gym about 2 months ago and go every other Day for Only about 2-1/2 hrs per work out and already iam looking and feeling better next month I turn 56 ouch and with my Health Issues it was TIME to do something now if can just put on a few more pounds I do better ?Being active I have found is the key although it takes time away from the hobby but it better than sitting down on the bench for 2-3 hrs than 4-5 hrs ?May sound crazy but I have been putting things on of arms way and across the room just so I have to Get Up. And get what I need so I don't do a lot of sitting at once ?

We had Ferrara's, a little mom & pop place, but the old man got real sick so they closed up. Little Joey's isn't too bad but not convenient. Little Caesar's is right next to the pool place I go to have the water checked, so once a month I stop off and get a couple of deep dish pizzas and that holds us for a month. When I was a kid we used to do Appian Way pizza. That the closest I ever got to homemade. It's much easier to buy them and then doctor them up a bit.
fog cutter Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 in addition to a little moving around, try "letting go". a person can be the most adamant, productive, worker in the history of the universe, and three days after they're gone no one will even remember their name. it's quite freeing, actually.
Snake45 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I swear, between federal tax, Social Security tax, state income tax, sales tax, property tax, a tax on the phone bill, a tax on the gas bill, a tax on the electric bill, a tax on the cable bill, the highest gas taxes in the country (I think), etc., I have just about had it. Geez... how much more of my money are they going to take from me??? If one could add up all the taxes (and "compliance" costs) one actually pays, I'll bet for the average American it would be more than 50% of one's income. Don't forget, every time you buy anything, you're paying a buttload of taxes on it, built into the price so you never see them. A wise man once said "Corporations don't pay taxes, they just collect them for the government."

I wouldn't be surprised if it was that much. Property tax alone is an absolute killer. Here in "Crook" County we get our property tax bills mailed to us twice a year–half at a time... maybe to make the actual total tax slightly easier to swallow? But dang! When I think what a huge chunk of my annual income goes to paying my property tax, it's enough to make me wanna puke...

When I think what a huge chunk of my annual income goes to paying my property tax, it's enough to make me wanna puke... That's why we left Long Island, NY 9 years ago. The R.E. taxes on our high ranch home on a quarter acre hit $10,000 yearly. Here in western PA, for our 3 bedroom ranch on an acre they're only $2,300 "at the moment".

God only knows what kind of stress "letting go" of pressing the "shift" key can alleviate. Then, maybe i'll try becoming a really free-spirit behind the wheel, and start leaving several car lengths in front of me when I'm stopped at red lights, ignoring the horns and finger signs and screaming. Any more suggestions as to how to have a more meaningful life?
mike 51 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 " Any more suggestions as to how to have a more meaningful life?"Sounds like it maybe way too late....bummer.
aurfalien Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) Any more suggestions as to how to have a more meaningful life? There are new studies to suggest that stress alone does not deteriorate health. Its what actions or habits result from stress which are the culprits. At any rate diet is key to a happy life in my opinion. If you want to pretend I am your doctor, then let me prescribe the following;1 - Reduce as much suger as possible.2 - Reduce as much grain as possible.3 - Drink plenty of water.4 - Eat 3-4 eggs poached every morning. Eat a whole avocado every day.5 - Some, not much, fruit and plenty of any green veg.6 - Meeeeaaaaaaaat and fish.7 - Stretch 15 every morning after a warm shower. Or every evening before bed. I do it twice a day.8 - Walk 10K steps every day, no gym required (smart phone app or Fitbit can track whti for you). The decay of a civilation starts with the mind, and a mind can be starved and twisted by poor diet. So, simply choose not to decay.
