Smokes went up to $17 a pack here in NY.They were .$4.50 when I started.Might actually have to really think about quitting. And yes I know it’s a disgusting habbit.😮‍💨🚬😠😖

Just imagine all the model kits and hobby supplies you're literally burning down with the smoke ending up in your lungs.  Yes, cigarette addiction is a very hard habit to break.  It is not just the nicotine but also the physical actions you perform while smoking.

USPS. I placed a hold on my mail for a few days. They were supposed to deliver it today, but didn't. When I went in to pick it up, I got a smile, batted eyes, and "I just work the window" along with my mail: insurance claim paperwork, live plants, and medication refills. nothing important.

And people in general.

When I first started smoking a pack cost about 85 cents. Gas was about the same and I remember sometimes trying to decide if I needed cigarettes  , or gas in my motorcycle.

Two years ago I tried to quit smoking because I was going to have an operation. The doctor told me the nicotine in my system would hinder bone growth.  So I managed to quit ... for 7 days.

I ended up in the emergency room for something totally unrelated and am attempting to reschedule  my surgery.

In the meantime,  I decided that $8 a pack ( per every 2 days ) was just throwing money away. So I figured out that if I went to the duty free store, (I live right on the border with Mexico ) I could get an entire carton of cigarettes for $15.

The downside, I have to actually walk across the border and back to get them. It takes me about 35-40 minutes to walk around and walking for me has become  an issue.

Now I'm seriously considering just how bad do I really want the cigarettes.

The walking is killing me, ... the cigarettes are killing me ...

Yea I hear ya.Cigarettes were actually $2.50 when I started, then all of a sudden I go to pick up a pack near my house, and they went up to $4.50.I remember I was so pissed off.So I quit, but that didn’t last long.Wow that was such a long time ago.A friggin carton was only about $12-$15.Its amazing, and a bit unnerving to think about how much money I’ve wasted on cigarettes over the past 25 years that  I’ve been smoking.I could’ve probably bought a house or something.Jeeze.😮‍💨🙄😖😵‍💫🤑🤑☠️.SMOKING SUCKS.☠️

I was able to source most parts for my lawn tractor locally, pulleys and the common sized main drive belt, but as usual the other "cvt drive" one is not available. Referenced the "gates" number and tracked one down not cheap as far as belts go. Nothing is simple, "off the shelf" or built to last anymore. Oh, and the transaxle is plastic. The entire housing. Built in obsolescence.

Couple things. The main road we use to get out of the 'hood and into town will be closed for 6 months so that some water pipes construction stuff can happen, starting next Wednesday. Lots of re-routing to be done for not only regular drivers but school buses, and garbage trucks, and service vehicles such as police, ambulance and fire. And knowing our city that 6 months will stretch to two years. But I could be wrong.

Also, that '69 LeMans I mentioned we're getting (which I am pretty hyped about, either today or tomorrow we should actually have it) can be insured through classic car insurance, but get this. Hagerty, for example, regardless of licesne status, won't insure me on that thing until I'm 21. I just have a G2 driver's rignt now, but even through our local insurace, which does classic cars also, won't insure me until I at least have a G. So I can't drive the thing myself until I have the full lisence. I mean the car itself is pretty good incentive to get my lisence, but geez, like come on really. Won't be pickn' up dem chicks just yet.

One of the more annoying things in life you'll realize fully over time is that even if you're the good guy who's careful and responsible, you will always pay a significant price for what the idiot-lowest-common-denominators do.

ILCDs are the reason many seemingly-unfair-and-unnecessarily-restrictive laws and policies are on the books.

That's how is goes, welcome to adulthood. My second car was a classic (1965 in 2001-2) I had a similar situation, high rates/risk pool. There's all sorts of hoops you gotta jump through in life, this is one of them. You'll get it sorted, and enjoy that Pontiac.

Lucky it didn't get to becone a full blown situation. I made my point verbally and the issue at hand did not continue. We see what tonight holds. Someone's memory seems to be either slipping or they just give a rats @$$. 🤔°° it actually could be a little of both. Our Dad did have dementia, and the saying is "The apple doesn't fall from the tree."

I tried Hagarty when I had my '55 Chevy, wasn't impressed with their prices or stipulations.  I got better coverage through our regular carrier and no restrictions for my high school age son to drive it.  Believe it or not my Dodge Ram had a higher premium than the '55 as it had a Hemi in it and that rang all the bells to charge more.

It's been a few years since I owned it, but I had my '68 Mustang on my regular policy as well with no use restrictions. All they asked was that I get it appraised. One of the local Mustang parts suppliers was an appraiser and took care of it painlessly.

Occasionally at work we do small jobs for the public, no big deal. When someone is shouldering fourteen foot of schedule 40 4 inch pipe ( it's about 11 pounds a foot galvanized) it's not the time to exchange pleasantries, gladhand, or generally mess about. Some people have no clue.

The heater core in my 2014 Frontier is leaking. $3500 to replace it outright. That's almost more than the truck is worth. Going to have them bypass the heater core and just live with it. This is the first major failure in 176K miles. We really like this truck too. Color me grumpy.
