This one was completed in the late-winter but wasn't able to upload it, then took my summer hiatus. This one was the 'Heavy Chevy' re-release from a few years ago. Went together great, no issues, and looks mean as nails when done. I'm not a fan of body stripes, so those were omitted and I used the wheels from the '86 Monte Carlo SS for a lil variety and spice. Paint is Red Metallic from the Perfect Match line.

Super sharp build, nice touch on the wheels. Did you paint the wheels...??

Thanks a bunch! Yeah I stripped the chrome and sprayed them with Rustoleum Aluminum from a can.

Great looking Chevelle! The wheels were a nice idea. They look kind of familiar on there actually. I think I may have seen that done on a 1:1 Chevelle.

Thanks for the kind words, I don't know where the idea came from for the wheels but it certainly makes sense if someone did it on their real one lol.

Looks pretty good, but I suggest you step it up next time and use foil for the chrome trim on the body instead of silver paint.

Yeah, I've been tossing the foil idea around I may try it out sometime

Try it the very next time. Silver paint doesn't look like chrome, it looks like silver paint. Foil will make a huge difference on your models.

Lawrence, I've got to agree with Harry, foil does bring a model to another level. You've got good looking paint, the rims look right at home on it, foil would only make it look better. Give it a shot on a spare body, practice until you feel comfortable with it, then try it on a painted body.

BTW, what did you use for the heater hose, it looks great!

Love that color! Anything under it (silver base, primer) or did you spray it directly on the plastic? Either way, it seems to have flowed out nicely. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to join all the others dogpiling on you about learning to foil. A lot of people are nervous around it at first, but once you learn how easy it is to do, you'll start looking for things that need foiling.

Thanks guys, as for the color it was just Perfect Match from the auto parts store. It comes straight out the can, and it's overtop of white primer. I build so few vehicles that need chrome in comparison to moderns that It didn't appeal to me to get into foiling.

That color is nice. What really caught my eye, though, is the interior. The subtle variations in color, sheen and texture make it look quite realistic.

A word of advice; Stay away from BMF. It's evil. You start out telling yourself your just going spruce up the windshield surround and next thing you know you're taping exacto blades together, in the dead of night, to cut strips for interior trim. Before you know it you'll be wiring distributors and airbrushing Alclad. It just goes down hill from there. Don't give in to peer pressure....Just Say No! ;)
