Casey Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Many of us have a favorite donor kits, or favorite parts from a specific kit, but which kit(s) contains your favorite decal sheet(s)?
Mercman Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 These would be some. They were from IMKO which is no longer produced. As for curent decals any from Gopher decal (aftermarket).
slusher Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 l like the decal sheet in revells 49 merc kit..
dantewallace Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The decals from the Tamiya JACCS Honda Accord kit and HKS Skyline
checkmate Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The decal sheet in the Model King reissue of the Austin Gasser.
Eshaver Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The decals in the 1st 1959 Imperial from model King were a kwell throwback..................
Bill Eh? Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I have to go along with Casey on any of the Gofer Racing sets. Also, the Dr. Cranky's sets are colourful, interesting and well printed. The decals for the Tamiya Porsche 911 GT1 are well done and make for an amazing livery.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The one car sheet that took the top of my head clean off was the one in the Simil-R Matech Ford GT. Perfect registration, foil-reflective highlights, super-sharp and subtle. Non automotive, I really dig the Aztek-pattern and weathering decals Polar Lights includes in its Star Trek TOS and refit Enterprise kits.
johnbuzzed Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Kit-wise, I would say the AMT Fiat/Double dragster and Polar Lights Challenger F/C; aftermarket, I would go with just about any of Gofer Racing's sheets. FYI, don't overlook decal sheets for military aircraft models- often, they include stencils and placards that can be used to add a little extra detail on automotive subjects, too.
FordRodnKustom Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Pictures friends...PICTURES! I would but most of them are missing from Fotki right now.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Lol, ain't that the truth! Any relevant ones are blown clean outta my albums too. Will try to get back on that... *edit* Here's the general idea, but the photo doesn't do it justice: Edited October 18, 2013 by Chuck Kourouklis
Mike_G Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 The decal sheet from my Doyusha 1:12 Lamborghini LP500 has some Playboy bunny decals, those are pretty rare I also like the scallop decals in the Galaxie '46-'48 Chevy kits, they'll work on a number of other cars.
bill_rules Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I would but most of them are missing from Fotki right now. I'd say 80-90% of mine are MIA, a far cry from the 20% they said would be affected.
Tom Geiger Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Jo-Han Rambler wagon: I love that light commercial sheet. Here's two police cars I've done with decals from that sheet so far. I'm planning a taxi from that sheet right now!
Tom Geiger Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Does it have to be decals or will this sheet do? I was fortunate to find two complete mint condition sheets at a show about 20 years ago. I had to have them because I had them as a kid! One has remained the way you see it, the other one I've been using on my builds, most notably on the cars in the Olde Kustom Kollection!
