mcandela Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Started this one about 3 years ago today. Building on and off all this time. really liked the model, only disappointment was the fit of the body panels when using all the vinyl plumbing and wiring. Because of this I decided to leave it open and show it with the panels off. Edited October 18, 2013 by mcandela
Kennyboy Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Beautiful build Mike! Love all the detail you put into it!!
cruz Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Very cool Mike, it's not an easy model to build.....
Shardik Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Mike, your detail painting skills are most impressive and the overall build quality seems to follow the same pattern. Bravo! Too bad about the fit of the body panels. I guess there's only so much detail that can be practically wedged in at this scale.
Harry P. Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I agree with Carl... display it with the panels off so all that great detail can be seen.
mcandela Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 In all fairness to the kit, it does plainly state in the instructions that the body panels won't fit if you choose to use all of the kit-supplied vinyl wires and hoses, and that you need to omit those if you want to diplay the model "buttoned up," so to speak. Great build; I think it looks great displayed with the panels off. Why would anyone want to cover up all that detail? Carl, it is so true what You are saying. But it's been 3 years and at my age I barely remember what happened yesterday!.
george 53 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 You did a GREAT job on a difficult kit. Yes, the instructions DO mention building the kit WITHOUT the fittings and lines to get a most pleaseing model, but the guys ARE right, theres just TOO MUCH nice detail under that rascal to button it ALL up! GREAT job!
Crazy Ed Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 The World's a better Place with another McLaren M8B in it. Very Well Done Mike.
Plastheniker Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 A highly interesting and excellently built kit. Unusual models like this make a forum interesting. I really hope to see more.
Daddyfink Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Nice build of a very tempermental kit. This kit clearly shows what can happen when not everyone is paying attention to what he other guy is doing. Tom West did the technical parts of these kit and supplied Accurate Miniatures with the building instructions and other details. The "Engineers" did not follow his instructions as they should have and this is what happened.
mcandela Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the comments! @Daddyfink, That is why it took me so long, on and off, trying not to kill it when frustration was there. Edited October 23, 2013 by mcandela
