Modlbldr Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I'm in a chopping mood now since it went so well on my 40 Ford. I found a magazine article with a custom 41 Willys and I really liked the look of it. So I sat down tonight and started this. The chop is very slight. I only took 3 mm out of the a pillars. Here it is next to a stock body. I tucked the top of the rear window inside and the bottom outside of flush to add a bit more angle to the rear window area without having to chop it more. Tomorrow I will fill the areas with strips of plastic and putty and sand it all smooth. I just wanted to do something a bit different with the Willys. Later-
Dirty Gringo Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Looks very nice and subtle cant wait to see more of this one
PappyD340 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Very NICE start Tom, great job on the chop!!
Dr. Cranky Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Wonderful modification. Waiting to see how this one turns out. KUTGW.
Chuck Most Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Loving this! I've got a long-stalled '41 Willys custom on the to-do pile and I was thinking of chopping it. I'll be keeping a close eye on this for sure!
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Good lines on that chop. The rear skirts will help to really differentiate this build too. Nice work so far.
Modlbldr Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Thanks guys. I was really excited about this build once I found the pic in the magazine. it is completely different than the traditional Willys builds. I spent some tome today filling and sanding on the roof and tulip panel. Later-
brett Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 wow Tom , that side profile looks great. I think your chop was about perfect, seen a couple done with a 5 or 6 inch done and it really changes the shape whereas yours has enhanced it. You're making me want to do one now
RichCostello Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hey Tom, it's great to see those skirts put to good use. It looks cool !!! Rich
Modlbldr Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Been kind of slow going on my builds lately. I got a little filler and primer work done. Still a long ways to go. I've got to get back to my buddy's house and see about getting some interior parts. Later-
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) Real pretty. The pancaked hood is a nice touch too. The high rear 3/4 shot really shows that nice flow you've got going. Edited November 23, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
Steven Zimmerman Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Great chop. For those of you who would rather not do all the work, RMR offers a chopped 41 Willys body with pie cut hood and laid back nose that utilizes the stock kit glass.........'Z'
1930fordpickup Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 This is cool . Looks great so far. Different than the typical Hemi, SBC, powered drag cars we see and build.
Tom Kren Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) Nice job so far saw the real car at Goodguys took pics I also started doing one like it but with no chop Edited November 23, 2013 by Tom Kren
