If you ever want to see the true stupidity of the American populace on display, catch an episode of "Jaywalking" on Jay Leno's show. Makes you wonder how this country functions at all...

Several years ago our local TV station produced a segment asking simple geography questions to passersby in downtown Mpls. The question was really tough! Name one of the two countries that border the United States to the north and south. My favorite answer was "Europe".

No, I'm sorry... the correct answer is "East Dakota."

One of my favorites was on the old Newlywed gameshow. The MC asked all of the wives "from which direction does the sun come up at YOUR house...north, south, east, or west?" . They gave several answers.

Some time ago one of the late night talk show hosts would go to some place where people should know, and would ask a question. One of my favorites occurred just after a graduation ceremony at a prestigious college. The question was, "How many moons does the earth have?" Answers ranged from four to "I don't know. I'm not an astronomy major."

You can not over estimate the ignorance of your fellow humans!

Saturn would be cooler for the moon question, cant beat the 50 or something moons!

GED huh? Anyone shocked by that?

What is wrong with a GED? i have gotten mine at 16 and it was the best thing ever because it allowed me to work, rather than being stuck in one of the worst high schools in the state, Sheepshead bay.

Spend a week in a radio car and see how you perception of the public is effected.

Everyone should take the time and check out their local police agencies for a civilian ride along program. Seriously, it will make you want to move to "east dakota" and be off the grid forever.

East Dakota is looking good to me lately...

That's one of the reasons why I moved out of Massachusetts and to the woods of New Hampshire 17 years ago. It's not East Dakota, but it's on the way.

...Then there's the two guys who tried to peel the airbrushed murals off my 69 Camaro with their thumbnails, swearing they were decals.....

I used to take my '73 Scamp to shows. I once had a guy put his soda cup down on my hood and his foot on the bumper to tie his shoe. When I chased him he seemed confused "What? I wasn't hurting anything?"

The thing about Jaywalking, is the only people who make it onto the broadcast are the ones with the stupid answers. Correct answers end up on the cutting room floor. They skew the sample towards the stupid end of the spectrum for some cheap laughs.

The car show idiots that really irritate me are the ones that OWN the car and know absolutely NOTHING about it. Granted, it's rare, but there are those that the only thing they know about it is the amount they wrote the check for to the guy built it.

I like the ones where everyone will diss the v6 cars but yet they love the 4 bangers. I've had people tell me what was wrong with my car, which I knew and I was there for fun and nothing else.

This was not at a car show, but I had just purchased my 1995 Corvette brand new. Went into a convenience store and the girl working there said " My husband and I are going to buy one, but we don't want fiberglass one we want to get the steel bodied one instead"...Joe
