Jantrix Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 The last few days I've been trying to get my hands on a Monogram Calloway Corvette Speedster. No success yet, but I was in no great rush. I figured it would come my way in time. However today one arrived from Amazon. My family had no idea I was even looking for the kit, so it has to be one of you fine folks in our great modeling community. Someone from here or my Facebook groups. There is no sender info on the package. I am beyond stunned. It was a fantastic act of kindness and fellowship. One I will not soon forget. Thank you so very much. Sincerely, Rob Mattis
pharoah Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 It wasn't me,but that was really nice. Did I mention that I'm looking for a 61 Corvette- a real one? Anybody?
Dr. Cranky Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Must be the spirit of the RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS that's going around in particular over in the YOUTUBE community. Enjoy the R.A.O.K.!
ToyLvr Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Rob: Just build it, and be sure to post the pix on the "Workbench" for all to see. I'll bet that your "Secret Santa" will be watching your progress and enjoying it from afar....
Mooneyzs Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 How cool is this. That was very nice of the person that did that.
Skydime Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 It wasn't me, I was gonna go try to find mine at my parents' house. That was a very nice gesture though. The fact that someone would randomly do that for you says just as much about you as the person that sent it.
Maindrian Pace Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 That was really cool of someone! -MJS
zenrat Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Wasn't me. But don't try too hard to work out who it was. I have tried to anonymously send a body to someone in the past and it P'd me off no end that he worked out it was me. BTW. Double brownie points for getting "whom" into a thread title.
Guest Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 This is a regular occurance on another forum I visit, glad to see it may be happening here.
vintagercr Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 That's really nice. Must be someone who would know your address.
PappyD340 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Well I can't claim responsibility for it either, but it is an awesome jester on someone's part, enjoy Rob!!
cobraman Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 How cool is that ? There is hope for mankind yet !
Jantrix Posted November 15, 2013 Author Posted November 15, 2013 Overnight, no one has stepped up. I suppose I could back track it through Amazon, but if the giver wants to stay anonymous who am I decide otherwise. An unbelievably cool act. Much appreciated. Stephen, I've traded pretty extensively on this forum and folks in both of my model clubs have my address, so it could be anyone. No idea when I will start the project, I was just gathering materials for the future. I have have two club builds that will start in January and they will be my main focus.
Chris White Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 That was cool, may something like that happen to us all, and may all of us attempt to create something like that for someone else. A lesson to be learned. Thanks to "Mr Good Deeds" or Mrs
crazyjim Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 There really are nice people in the world.
disabled modeler Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Glad to hear it Rob....great gesture on someones part to help out. I have had a few here donate kits to my disabled builders group I help out locally....many times without them I could not keep it going for the guys...being disabled myself Id really like to keep it going for them they look forward to it too much but there is only so much I can do on my own with a very small income....I thank people like that there a breed above.
charlie8575 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 There are decent people in the world, and most frequently, they like to be quiet about it. Tip o' the topper to whoever this was. Charlie Larkin
Tony T Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) Yup, very nice gesture. What goes around comes around! Love to hear about these types of things...there is hope yet! No, it wasn't me, but I hope that I have the opportunity to make someone's day like that! Awesome! Edited November 16, 2013 by Tony T
Tom Geiger Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 It wasn't me but I like the idea a whole lot. Kudos to the good Samaritan! And Rob, forget about finding out who it was. And just do something nice for someone else!
Chillyb1 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Oh, all right, it was I. That's right, the guessing game is over. I'm the super-nice person who sent the thing to the guy. So, if you all want to flood me with gifts and adulation and all the rest, please feel free. Cash accepted.
Jantrix Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 And Rob, forget about finding out who it was. And just do something nice for someone else! Agreed. I'll be paying it forward very soon.
Erik Smith Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Awesome gesture! Too bad we don't get to see more posts like this and less in the other direction.
Rob McKee Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 With all the greed and it's all about me kind of people in the world today, it is nice to hear a story like this.
