PappyD340 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 OK guys and gals, here's my 66 fairlane in all it's glory, I hope you all enjoy viewing as much as I enjoyed building it!! I have included a pic of the detailed rear end before assembly cause you just can't see it well under the car and a couple interior pics before assembly. I scratch built a few items and they are side mirrors, rear view mirror, battery relay selinoid, steering box, dip stick and tube, antenna, door handles. Shock towers are from Scott at Futurattraction, all other detail items are from Detail Master and ProTech. Seatbelt material is a decorative ribbon I found at Hobby Lobby. All interior trim is BMF except the steering wheel and it is hand painted with brush. Paint is Rustolem cobalt blue metallic, and Rusoleum 2X clear Interior paint is Rustoleum semi gloss black Engine paint is Dupli Color Ford blue And as always all comments welcomed Thanks for taking the time to look!!
rv1963 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Well done, that's a lot of detail work in the engine compartment cool.
Sixties Sam Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Very nice! Great engine bay detail work! The color is dead on, too! Good work! Sam
Ramfins59 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Larry, that car is outstanding. Your engine compartment and interior detail is fabulous. Great job.
o-man Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Larry, AWESOME job! You need to build and post more. Most excellent.
ScaleDale Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Extremely clean and well detailed. great paint job, too. What kit is that? AMT? Dale
Maindrian Pace Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Very nice, Larry. Yours is one of the only ones I've seen built with the corrected windshield A pillar trim - BMF'd all the way to the vent frames. That makes this kit look much better. -MJS
PappyD340 Posted November 23, 2013 Author Posted November 23, 2013 Thanks so much guys for the uplifting comments! I had a lot of fun with this one!! Dale: yes that it the AMT #6926 kit, I've had it forever got two Fairlane 427 kits also one of which is my next project, not going to be detailed like this one, maybe some plug wires and minor stuff Mike: I tried my best to get the factory stock detail correct, with that being said I had every intention on applying the body side stripes, but even with a coat of Micro Scale decal film they still pretty much disintergrated, I did find a few 1:1 that did not have stripes, not sure if they were factory correct or not, but it is what it is Oscar: just can't squeeze out any more spare time right now Rich: I have been watching and taking notes from your fabulous interiors!! One other thing in the engine pic taken from the side there is a black stripe across the altenator that is the top bracket, not painted but a Detail Master PE bracket, this car was built before the invention of the floating altenator, just incase Harry takes a peek!! it's got mirrors too!!
Dragfreak Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 amazing work! the engine looks absolutely perfect!
Randytheroadrunner Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 That's a great build with excellent attention to detail. Nicely done!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 WOW, I just loved it!!! Great engine detail. Also great to see the shock mounts at the towers, that adds a lot to the model. Not to mention the color, that is just perfect for the car.
mrmike Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 A super looking Fairlane! i love the detail and the color, too! Great job Larry!!

realgone58 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Wow, that really came out beautiful! Incredible engine compartment detail!
Chris White Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Larry that beautiful, that engine detail is over top (good not bad)
satterwhite78 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 with the addition of the shock towers greatly improves and enhances the engine compartment overall. Both the 66 Fairlane and 67 Cyclone kits are a joy to build. Great job!
