Kennyboy Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Hey guys back again with another build, this time it is a "cleanup" curbside build.......that means most of this was added with scraps from other builds. My 11 year old daughter came up with the name the first time she saw this.......and for me the name fits it quite well. The main body is from the Stingray III kit. The flares and front air dam are from a Tamiya 911 GT2. The sideskirts are from a Lotus Esprit. annnd the rear clip is from a R35 GTR. With the exception of the Stingray III, all this was from the "parts box." What you see was put together Saturday night and part of Sunday. The wheels in the pic are just for size mockup.....still up in the air on what ones will be on it. Right now the lighting is not great so I'll keep it to two photos....... PappyD340 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 WOW, that looks fantastic Ken, I like the look, and I don't see anything wrong with those wheels, they look quite at home(IMO)!! Got any colors for paint in mind?
Modlbldr Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I'm with Pappy. I like the overall look and think that the wheels go quite well with it. Keep it up. Later-
Kennyboy Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Hey thanks Larry and Tom!! I am thinking of doing it in a DRIFT series paint scheme....like APEXi or Greddy that will incorporate BMF with bright colors.
slusher Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Wow, that is very cool. Very sinister look in the front Ken...
cobraman Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I'm liking the look already. Another cool slice and dice. Keep er' goin'.
GerN Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 The body below the greenhouse looks very good, quite well integrated. You might consider a different top, something a bit lower and smoother to better match the rest. The windshield in particular appears too long and high. But it could just be this photo.

I thought the same with the back window, it looks a bit off with the overall design. Thinking when the windshield gets trimmed in black will make a difference too.
Kennyboy Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Thanks a lot for the compliments guys! The paint scheme on this one will be wild!! The main color will be a Kandy Raspberry with white, chrome, black and red graphics with red centers on the wheels.. oh yeah, it needs a wing too.....something driftstyle! I'm thinking one thing to do will be to get rid of the "wing" windows, that should smooth out the side window area, then I'll take a look at the rear window. (Kinda like how the glass fits right now though.) Edited November 25, 2013 by Kennyboy
DrKerry Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Just a thought Ken, what about squaring up the lower edge in the rear window? This is totally just to me but it looks to larger and needs a bit of closing off. Or when you get it built put a decal of some sort across the lower part of the back window to help loose the effect. Something to think about. The top looks kool on it, not sure how it'll look after the wing windows are out. If you want to try it and need a new windshield you know I have an extra!!!!!
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Liking what you've got so far, and I'll be watching as it develops.
Kennyboy Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Another awesome build from Ken's body shop. Thanks Robert! Liking what you've got so far, and I'll be watching as it develops. Thank you Bill!
am73grand Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 This is so cool!!! I am also in agreement. those wheels look great on it!
BluePopsicle Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Another awesome build in the making... Can't wait! I'll be following this one as well.
Kennyboy Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 Thanks Jon (again)! Today I massaged in the sides and all the areas where parts meet.......it really smoothed out the body, I am starting to look at it as a convertible!! Pics soon.......gotta sand first.
Kennyboy Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 First sand done with 240 grit wet. Some filling will be needed here and there but the body is starting to take shape....
Armornv Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 This is gonna be so awesome to watch. Just like the Ferrari and the Volvo. I hope you keep it as a hard top though. Not much of a convertible fan. Just my two cents of course. Your talent and eye for creating these cars amazes me.
PowerPlant Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Hey Ken! Nice to see those GT-R bits being used for something original as this
