It must be spring. I cut the grass yesterday and was trimming bushed today. Pretty soon the pool will be open.

my pool is still one big block of round ice  ice skating anyone??

Just another "cold night" Harry, just grin and bear it. LOL! Look at all the money you're saving on your electric bill by not running the A/C.

All the money I'm saving by not running the A/C, I'm spending on my gas bill to heat the house...

That's right Harry, if it's not one thing, it's another but it's always something. There are days in the spring and the fall where we don't have to run the furnace or the A/C and I call those "free days."

I heard that and the possibility of more snow....................my words had the inititals of J.F.C.

The first and last letters are of a religious nature, the middle...........anything but.

Snow is in the next few days forecast, but I don't expect any thing shovel ready. Highs all next week in the mid 30's, lows in the mid 20's.

last Thursday was the first day of still winter,

Anyone know where I can buy snow tires for a Harley?

As long a the jet keeps coming out of Alaska and slides down the Idaho Montana boarder and then goes due east you are in for cold. All ya got ta do is watch the Jetstream and you will know more winter is on the way. Once it moves north for the summer, the low temps will go away.

When I lived in Colorado, the big snows were usually in late March or April...

Yeah, a MILE up in space.

Here, we are painfully close to sea level, without a mountain within 500 miles. Or more. The only thing flatter than Illinois is Britney Spears without auto-tune...

Here's a shot of Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. This is as close to "terrain" as we get here! The "mountains" in the background are maybe a couple hundred feet high.

The area around Galena, in the extreme NW corner of Illinois, is similar... one of the very few areas in Illinois that the glaciers missed and didn't bulldoze flat millions of years ago. Actually the area around Galena is very hilly and scenic... to an Illinoisan!

I was listening to the morning radio on my way into the office this morning. The two morning idiots were discussing the upcoming storm and noted that since we are now officially into spring, that the snowfall doesn't count towards the year's winter totals! But also noted that we'd need something like 10" to match 1st place.

That looks like a nice area...about the highest points I've been to in your fair state are the observation decks in a couple of Chicago towers...the John Hancock Observatory and the Skydeck..

And those two are actually higher than any natural point in the whole state!

The temp was just below freezing all day from a low of 19, and it snowed most of the day as it melted off just as fast as it came down. The low tonight will be 14 degrees.

Spring? I don't think so.

Spring? You bet, but it's just a little slow getting here. Seems like winter has a hard time "letting go." LOL! We made it this far, so what's another few more days, or another week or two?
