Ryan S. Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Hi all, This is a Christmas gift I've done, to give my Dad this year. It replicates a car that he and his brother owned back in the day in the 60's. I used the Revell kit's; both the SS and the Special Edition. I have to say that this was a great kit to work with and built up really nicely and easily. In order to get the correct SS badges (strangely missing from even the SS version of the kit) I used Keith Marks decals for a lot of the exterior. The color is good 'ol Testors small bottle Dark Red for the exterior and Testors flat red for the interior. I chose 2 colors for a little contrast so it is not 100% factory accurate. This is also my first totally airbrushed body and I used the Donn Yost method and I have to say it came out pretty darn good. I do wish I had laid a clear coat down after decalling as they have slivered (silvered?) a little. I did the decals after foiling and didn't want to clear over the foil. I detailed the engine some and weathered the chassis and engine bay lightly using some black wash and pastel chalk to give it a little used and driven look. I added some white metal break calipers to some small washers to simulate the disk breaks. Rims are from the '32 Ford kit. My dad had a set of mag rims on his at one point, and look better to me than the steel wheels. I used this link from Spuds Garage as reference for most of what I did with this, as the pictures my dad had were limited.http://www.spudsgarage.com/vehicles/62Imp409Lee/ Any comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated! I'm glad to have finished this ONE model for this year and can't wait to give it to my dad. Thanks for looking!
