slusher Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Man, that's one gorgeous model. Amazing paint finish and detail. What color did you use on the interior??
Porscheman Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 That's beautiful!!! Excellent build on a great kit.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Man, that's one gorgeous model. Amazing paint finish and detail. What color did you use on the interior?? Thanks!!! The paint on the interior is all Testors. The light tone of gray I got mixing flat white and flat gray until I got to the tone of the interior of a original unrestored car I saw at 1957ford.com. The darker tone of gray is Testors flat black acrylic mixed with flat white and silver, again until it would match a reference picture.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Thank you guys, I really appreciated your comments!! I have a set on Flickr with all pictures of the build. Forgot to make one on Ipernity too. here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lovefordgalaxie/sets/72157638858178676/

realgone58 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Another beauty! Love the interior. Extremely nice build.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 The bad guy from Thunder Road.... There's another movie car. Terry Thunder Road? Robert Mitchum Thunder Road? No, never saw that movie... LOL!!!!
Erik Smith Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Very nice model! Great work on the paint.
Ron Hamilton Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Thunder Road? Robert Mitchum Thunder Road? No, never saw that movie... LOL!!!! Thunder Road? Robert Mitchum Thunder Road? No, never saw that movie... LOL!!!! Well Tulio, You built one of the cars from the movie, and you did a wonderful job of it. Now if you do a '57 Fairlane 500 Club Victoria in Red? and White, you will have Robert Michum's car.
Terry Jessee Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) The '57 in Thunder Road was Cumberland Green and white according to a couple of sites I've seen. In a black and white film, a red car would appear to be much darker, almost black. And somewhere I have a short article that reported that the "gray '50 coupe" was actually a light blue. According to legend, Mitchum liked the '50 so well that he bought it after the film, and his son Jim kept it for many years. It was repainted black by then. Incidentally, the "50" was actually a '51 two-door sedan with a '50 nose and a '49 hood. The black one that is rolled at the beginning of the film was repainted in gray and blown up in the gas station scene. When the Mercury in the gas station rolls over in the blast, you can see the cable that pulls it over. The car stunt coordinator (and the driver of the '57 at the end) was Carey Loftin. They asked him if he could get the car into the power plant dummy, and he said, "No problem." Planted it right where they wanted it. Terry Edited December 21, 2013 by Terry Jessee
Ramfins59 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Tulio, that is yet another beautiful Ford. You really do great work.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Well Tulio, You built one of the cars from the movie, and you did a wonderful job of it. Now if you do a '57 Fairlane 500 Club Victoria in Red? and White, you will have Robert Michum's car. I didn't know about the movie, and it's a very well known movie, go figure!! The car you pictured Ron is not a Fairlane 500 Club Victoria, it's in fact a Fairlane 500 Club Sedan. The Club Vicky is a hardtop. Mitchum's cars has the "B" pillar.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Tulio, that is yet another beautiful Ford. You really do great work. Thanks Rich!!! Since I took the pictures, I gave the air cleaner a little black wash, just to break that huge silver surface, and it worked great. Will post a picture latter. Some friends asked me why I didn't two tone the car, and just painted it black instead. That has to do with a little detail about the kit, that I actually saw nobody noticing. The 1957 Ford Custom Tudor had a little piece of trim to separate the colors just behind the doors. 1957 Ford two tone divider trim. par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity To be 100% accurate depicting a two tone car, it should have that little trim piece. Lot's of cars were two toned in repaints, and those don't have the trim. The factory two tones have them. Another factor, is that I like black cars a lot, and I think the color suits the '57 very well. It makes the car to look "mean" I decided to talk about this detail Revell did "wrong" (not wrong, as it is not necessary to build a 100% stock and accurate car) because I saw people correcting a detail Revell did right. This detail is the spare tire "hump" on the trunk floor pan. People say it's sideways and need to be corrected to be parallel to the fuel tank. Well, on a 1:1 scale 1957 Ford the spare tire hump IS sideways!!! Ford did that this way among other things to make the access to the back of the right taillight easier, like when you have to replace a light bulb. Another question I was asked is how could I not to whitewall it. Around here I'm known as the whitewall maniac, as I put them on all cars LOL!!! Well, I'm not old enough, but i remember my grandfather telling me that back in the day, 90% of the cars didn't have whitewalls. I figured that a basic car like a Custom Tudor would be one of the cars less like to be optioned with them (but it would look a lot better with some BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH whitewalls!!!)
Harry P. Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Tulio... very nice. Nobody I know does Fords any better than you,
John Teresi Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Tulio…….EXCELLENT !!!!!!!……..vey Beautiful
