Repstock Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 Beautiful work Tom. I also want to build a Foto Mat diorama. For me the worst part was cutting out all those letters from .040 styrene. Once you get past that, it gets better.
clovis Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Wow...Just WOW!!! Thank you for capturing some of the buildings of a bygone era. It is so common to see prewar buildings...but the Clark station and the Fotomat are creative and stunning!!! Are you a professional builder? Your work should be saved in the Smithsonian, not only because they capture a glimpse of past America, but because your work is simply stunning. Ever heard of the Henry O. Studley tool chest? Your work is on par with that, even though it is a different genre.
Repstock Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 That is great! I completely forgot about these things until I saw your post. Nice Monte Carlo by the way. Where did you source the correct hub caps for it? I scratch built those. All I remember is starting with a 1973 ElDorado wheel cover. I don't remember what I did from there.
Greg Cullinan Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Awesome. Sad to say I remember these. It's spot on.
Chuck Most Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I like dioramas, '70's cars, and brunettes in halter tops... so do I have to tell you how cool I think this is? Awesome work!
Teddy J. Tannehill Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Great work you got every thing right down to the "Pretty Girl" minding the store.
BirdWatcher Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Spectacular work! I've dropped off and picked up quite a few rolls at the old one down here, it's been a psychic booth and now it's a cigarette shop. Brought back some great memories. Thanks for sharing!
Danno Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Glad this popped up for an encore. It was fun to examine it all over again.
Grumpa Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 This is really cool Tom! You captured a little moment in time that is long gone. Great subject to choose.
Foxer Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Pretty cool. You know, if you want to get a print of your digital images from a photo finisher it will be rare if it's NOT on Kodak paper! They're still alive ...
David G. Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Fantastic work! The only thing missing is glowing brake lights on the car. I seem to remember that nobody put their cars in park when the stopped at one of these places. They just sat there with their foot on the brake. David G.
Biggie Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Nicely captured dio & also love your attention to details ! Bravo
Mike Muncy Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Is this scratch built? Or part of a dio kit? Amazing either way, very interesting. Love it.
Krazy Rick Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 What a great Diorama this is Tom, you didn't leave out any details, inside & out, large & small.
