59 Impala Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks guys for the kind words. Mike, if you can find that picture again would you please post it here. I looked and couldn't find the picture. Dan
59 Impala Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Well, I bit the bullet and changed the gold to white. It was brought to my attention that the color should be white and after looking at the pictures that I have (3) I kinda think that white is the color. If not, I'll change back, but as of now it's white and I'm working on removing some of the white to have a gold stripe down the top of the fenders and doors. I think that's what's in the pictures that I have. Anyway, here are some pics fer ya of how she looks tonight. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
Alan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 There is a gold fade between the green and the white. I have the pics posted at my website. Included in the pics of the Firebird is one pic of the GTO as the decals I offer will work on it as well ............. Looking good so far ! Alan
59 Impala Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Thanks Alan. I ordered those decals from you for this build. I'm really happy with the decals. If I can find a 68 GTO, I'll be ordering another set for that build. Dan P.S. Thanks for the quick turn around on the decals. I really appreciated that. :) Edited January 14, 2014 by 59 Impala
Alan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Glad you are happy with the decals and service Looking forward to seeing this done ... Wanted to ask, what green did you use for this, it looks really good .. Edited January 14, 2014 by Alan
59 Impala Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) I mixed Emerald green and gold from testors 1/4 oz bottles. Most of the color is emerald green with a little gold mixed in. Then, I sprayed that over the gold base. Dan P.S. I have a bad habbit of not writing down how much paint I mix together when I mix them to come up with the final color formula. 59 Impala Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Well, after a long hiatis I finally got a small update. Not much but I had to repaint the White, Gold and Green because every time I masked it off to paint and removed the tape, it pulled some of the other color off. Bummer. Well, I'm done painting it now and here are some pics fer ya. Here is a pic of the chassis, engine and part of the interior. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
bryan_m Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 hey Dan!! thats lookin good buddy, keep it goin. cheers bryan
Modlbldr Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Very nice paint job. Too bad you had to shoot it twice. What color of grey is that in the interior? Later-
59 Impala Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Thanks a lot fellas. The interior just looks gray for some reason in the picture. It is flat Black. I sprayed Testors bottle paint thru an air brush. I can't wait to get the decals on it also. I'm gettin kinda ancious but I am restraining myself cause I don't want to miss this up. I'm going to wait a few days so the paint really dries before I put the decals on. I'm going to put the rest of the interior together and install the BMF on the trim. Dan
Bob Ellis Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Is that an AMT sticker on the front bumper?
59 Impala Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Yes it is a decal on the front fenders. AMT made a model of the 68 Firebird. I'm not sure if AMT helped to sponser the Tin Indians or not. Dan
59 Impala Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Thanks Dave. I have no new updates yet. Life is getting in the way. I hope to have some pics up soon though, so stay tuned. Dan
