cobraman Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) Next on the bench will be the new Slingster kit. Plans call it to be built different than you might think. I need to gather some parts and may have to do a little scratch building. Still looking for a better photo to post to let you see the style I will be going for. Not a direct copy. cobraman Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 I hope I will be able to live up to the hype ! It's a different kind of dragster I'm going to try and semi copy. Looking for color photo. Guess that really doesn't matter since I'm building my own version.
cobraman Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Made some progress on this thing. You will note there is only 3 wheels in the photo. Why ? I am trying to build a dragster that was very much like a 3 wheeled dragster that ran ( I believe ) in California around 1961. Mine will not be a copy but rather just something on the order of that one. I could only find a few photos and not much info. Not sure of any details like the colors and not sure how he worked out the steering. I will fake it best I can.
Daddyfink Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Car was run by Kenny Ellis http://www.draglist.com/artman/publish/article_001194.shtml
slusher Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I did not know there was a three wheeled dragster. That will be a cool build Ray...
Ira Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Great Project Ray! Never saw this dragster, it's WILD...
cobraman Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Was able to get this wip finished. Not a direct copy of the real 3 wheeled dragster but as close as I could get it given the parts I had and my limited talents. I kind of like the unusual and when I saw the photo I had to try to build something along the same lines. Comments as always are welcome be they pro or con. On to the next one, whatever it may be.
Daddyfink Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Very cool! That should make some folks leave confused and scratching their heads!
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Cool project. Definitely looks like it was a fun project. bobthehobbyguy
cobraman Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 Thanks guys. It was a fun little project and a nice simple kit.
Doctordarryl Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Just released a new decal set for Al Bergler's Aggravation A competition (A/C) coupe (which I believe the old Monogram Sizzler dragster kit was modeled after). I have a build on the work table that will have the bar bell weights stacked on the front axel for ballast!!!
cobraman Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 That's cool. What color was that body ?
slusher Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Very cool and unique build Ray, very nice work...
