On October 8, 2012, Marathon announced its purchase of numerous British Petroleum (BP) assets. The assets consisted of 1 Texas City refinery, 4 light product distribution terminals, and 1200 retail stations throughout the southeastern United States

Still have a number of BP's here, only tend to buy from the one closest to work, mainly because they have some if the prices around. Most around here tend to be on the high side of pricing unless you're looking at E85, then you're really getting screwed, the stations that do sell it want nearly as much for that as they do regular.

Still BPs up here in Wisconsin. I usually get my gas at Citgo, or Kwik Trip, which is an awesome convenience type store with a great selection of groceries. I buy our butter and dairy there. butter is usually about $2 a pound and eggs are 99 cents. All there hot food like pizza, sammitches and bakery is all done in each individual store. Our BP stations are generally among the higher priced places. We also have Marathon stations.

BP is here in spurts. Clinton- small town area/population wise (about 8500) has three BP stations. They're mostly occupying what were Getty stations.

I don't go to BP that much- prices are a bit higher than I like (well, all gas right now is much higher than I'd like,) and there isn't one in town here. I've used the gas before- didn't have any problems with it, but didn't see anything special about it.

I have not been to Chicago my home in a while but there use to be some Arco stations there. Are there any still left...???

Not that I've seen, or even remember. Usually it's BP, Shell, Marathon, Mobile, Speedway, Road Ranger, Thornton's, 7-11, and a handful of Citgo stores around here. Union 76 up.and left in the late 90's, the last Clark I knew of is now a BP, Phillips looks to be gone too.

The BPs around here are almost always the highest priced. I usually get gas at Thornton's.... generally the best price, and good coffee!

Around here the Arco brand disappeared many years ago. I remember when they were the "new kid" in town and replaced all the old Sinclair gas stations (with the green dinosaur logo).

Chicago is a big place, but I have not seen any south or wesr of the city and none on the gold coast.

Didn't care much for their hot chocolate (don't do coffee), same with Speedways, but that BP by my store has some of the best!

BP trades as Arco out here in the west and I think I heard something about them divesting themselves of the entire USA market sooner than later.

I never go to Arco stations: the lowest prices attract the scum of the earth. hardly a time goes by that I am in one (in someone elses vehicle for instance) and some drama doesn't happen. We call em "AM/PM Murder Marts" around here. A good place to get robbed.

Plus they don't even take credit cards. Now that's ghetto right there: debit cards only. With the usurious interest charging quick check cashing in the back.

BP is still all over around me. FYI, Speedway is owned by Marathon, my wife is a recruiter for Speedway. They are building about 20 new stations in TN this year then branching farther south late 2014 early 2015.

I like the Speedway I usualy go to, don't take the Jeep there too often, but I'll fill my 200 there unless somebody else has a better E85 spread, which almost never happens around here.

I like Speedway, they were Super America too, then they folded them all to the Speedway name.

Fun fact, there is still 1 Super America! Its in Louisville, KY. The land owner is a bit of a jerk and will not allow them to change their name without hiking up the land lease to almost 4-5 times what it was 20 years ago when it was signed. He had been looking for a way to break their lease agreement and that was something wrote in the original lease. Now its called Speedway Super America. LOL This is also why Speedway will never lease property anymore. If they cant buy it, they wont build there.
