Belugawrx Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Started this 3 wks ago when the 70.5 camero started giving me fits on final assembly Lightly lowered front and rear Making side skirts to hide the frame rails Thinned wheel wells and cut out top of inner well to accept those meaty BFG's Opened hood scoop and added bottom plate, also filled joint between scoop and hood Can't remember where those wheels came from?? but they looked very Moparish Still looking for the proper ga. wire for plugs?? Enjoy... should be in Under glass very soon
slusher Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Very nice and love the stance. looking forward to the under glass pics..
Skypower Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Love it. My first car was a 70 340 challenger pistol grip and plum crazy. I will build one some day when I can do it some justice. Yours looks great.
Custom Mike Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Man, even without the foil done this baby looks great! What kit did you rob those rims from?
om617 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Nice start and it looks really good with the fat tires.
stump Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Mate, that looks pretty darn wicked. Looooove the stance. This is the latest (been out for a while) kit from Revell? I've held off from getting one because of the slab sided look, but yours looks pretty good. Did you pull the sides in a bit at the bottom? Or maybe it's just a trick of the lighting...Looks great regardless, nice job.
Belugawrx Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Thnx everyone The wheels.... ya well it could have been "Daisy's Roadrunner"... or... geez I don't remember, I should have written it down I guess cause I really like 'em I put the 440 in this fills the bay nicely Removed all chrome from bumpers today and will shoot with alcad 2nite Then polish..polish..polish and bmf 2moro Might get 'er done this weekend Yahoodie
Belugawrx Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 Yah so this happened..... Polished thru on a visible spot and those rotten ghost seams up the sail panels so thru it in the Dot 3 over night and I'll try it again Primer, Metallic blue, Chrome purple....
Skypower Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Ouch, good thing about these cars, all things are fixable. Good luck with it. I'm a fan.
jaydar Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Tis is the first time I have seen a WIP run in REVERSE!!!! Been there...done that, sorry. I have the same one on my bench now. Where did you get the 440? Joe.
Timonator Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Is it the 1/24 or 1/25 kit ? Those wheels are motor wheel spyders. A rare vintage mag. I would like to know what kit they are from as well.
Belugawrx Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 It's the Revell 2010 release 1:25 streetburner kit, 440 Magnum engine comes with it
skymnky721 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Those rims are perfect for that,,great looking car!
CaptainAhab Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 The streetburner kit I have is 1/24. Looks more accurate to me than the 1/25. Seems like some of the newer revell 1/25 look a little off to me. What gives?
Belugawrx Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Ok .... She's out of body and paint and ready for try #2 Gonna let 'er dry out for a couple of days then panel lines and clear Just as an aside,.. I have been looking over older post regarding this Revell model and have found alot of comments regarding "slab sided, thick castings, improper molding of this and that" parts. Looking at this kit (with a layman's eye) the side panels do tuck in nicely and the side panel moldings are incredibly thin, I went thru in one spot on my first run down scribing panel lines!! The front and rear valance joints are in the right spot.... Anyway just sayin'..... maybe Revell tweeked the tooling btween 2008 and 2010?? I like to build my models the way I would customize them if I won the lottery!?! And I'm not a 100% repro factory stock guy. So all that being said Hope you like the build Gotta snow day today!!
Belugawrx Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Ok....... 3rd times the charm..... Right!!?? Just out of Prestone brake fluid(again)after 20 mins.,....roomates toothbrush came in handy WASHED in 99% Isopropal alcohol Washed in warm water and Dawn dish soap Air dried Sanded the "ghosts" again. Rubbed a pencil over the area and they were still there ....so... think I got 'em this time Touched up where the alcohol remove filler ...sand/filler/sand Shot with primer Do not touch for 3 days See ya then then (feels like "Groundhog Day")
om617 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Got to admire you not giving up despite the bad luck with paint *thumbs up*
Skypower Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks for the steps on the striping and the products used, I also will be needing this process for my Cuda and its looking like Box Nova I'm working on now darn it. Good luck on getting it right this time.
Belugawrx Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Is it the 1/24 or 1/25 kit ? Those wheels are motor wheel spyders. A rare vintage mag. I would like to know what kit they are from as well. I figured it out!.... Those 'spyders' are from the AMT/Ertl 2006 release of the 1:25th '79 Firebird Trans Am Kit Got it in a lump buy
DonW Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Tis is the first time I have seen a WIP run in REVERSE!!!! Been there...done that, sorry. I have the same one on my bench now.
