Obivion Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 This evening i will post photos of the diffrrent options I have in ine message. My first idea was also that the front wheels are just a little too big. But maybe that is better than two different styles of rims... Dennis
Chromecop Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 like the "wire-Wheels" bu You mut find some similar but smaller ones in font Perhaps the stoick Wheels from Lindberg/Amt 1934 Ford Pickup???? Thery're "quite Close".... I'd say!
Modlbldr Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I think I would also try a set from the Lindberg 34 Ford. If you can post some dimensions on the fronts that you have I can check the dimensions on the ones I have and see if they are smaller. My guess is that the set from the Mercedes is 1/24 scale. Later-
Obivion Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Ill measure them later and let you know. Dennis
Davewilly Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I like number 3 the best in your case.... I do like the early wire wheel look also but smaller sidewall tires like this one
Obivion Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) @ Modlbldr: Maybe thes photos can help you? The sizes are in cm. I thinks the size of the steelies is ok, or just a little bigger then the steelies are... Dennis Edited March 20, 2014 by Obivion
squirrel886 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) I just popped a bag of popcorn.......watching this one. Edited March 20, 2014 by squirrel886
crazyrichard Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 for now i would say option 3 the first set you had .... the wires are cool but only if the proportions are spot on ...
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I like 3. If you do find wires you need to paint the someting other than black. To me they do not look right. Will be following this. Great project.
Obivion Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) If everything goes as planned I get a pair smaller wire rims for the front from crazyrichard. In that case I go for the wired ones... Dennis Edited March 20, 2014 by Obivion
Modlbldr Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Let me do some digging in the morning and see what the size of the ones I have are. I'll post it up by tomorrow night. Belugawrx- I'd be interested in those. Later- Edited March 21, 2014 by Modlbldr
Zarana-X Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Nice work. The taillamps came out good. At first, I thought you were just sticking the stock housing on the c-pillar.
Modlbldr Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) These are what I have. The ruler is in mm and it looks as if they are the same size as your white VW rims you posted. Sorry for the bad pic. They are yours if you want them. I have the rear half (hub side) too for these. PM me. Later- Edited March 22, 2014 by Modlbldr
Obivion Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 Well it's been a busy week. Earlier this week US president Obama visited my work in Amsterdam. Of course that was a lot of work to get the security right. I was lucky to see him, see Marine one and see the beast(s). I also liked working together with the US Secret Service Now finally some time off and back to the Volksrod. I made some hairpins and drumbrakes. The drumbrakes will get a backplate later. Also did some work on the headlights which will be used. Dennis
Obivion Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Got some questions about how I did the chassis. Well, here you see the before and after pics. I used some small wooden stick only because I did not have any styrene strips at that moment.
Obivion Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Today I received an envelope from the USA. It was the present from our member Modlbldr who sent me some wire wheels for the front. They need some work because the tyres are just a little too narrow and I need to find a way to mount them to the car. But this picture gives a good idea how it will look. Also imagine white walls on the front tyres.... Thanks Modlbldr.... Dennis
Chromecop Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Gona look awesome with those Wheels!!!! Keep up the good work man!
Modlbldr Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) Those look like they'll work just fine. They look like a mix of your option #1 and #2. They look much better on your build than they would have in the bottom of a box in my garage. Glad I could help. Later- Edited April 1, 2014 by Modlbldr
Belugawrx Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I like number 3 the best in your case.... I do like the early wire wheel look also but smaller sidewall tires like this one OK.... Where did you get that 1:74 1/2 skull!!??!!
