Shelby 427 1965 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 So, today I bought Revell's Dodge Viper kit. Reissue. And I looked at the instructions, and a bit of a glaring fault shone out at me. This is the Viper GTS kit. So why is there an SRT-10 there on the bottom pic? Odd. Any more weird errors like this any of you have witnessed over the years? Pics if possible!
62rebel Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I've seen mis-identified parts called out several times over the years, as well as incorrect color callouts.
wrecker388 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Ok, I need to get some pics from the newest RC2 issue of the 29 Ford Woodie/Pickup. It says "surf rod surf rod" and my favorite "Radiator Sheelr" I have been trying to find a sheelr in the kit for a while.
Austin T Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The best ones are the Fujimi instruction sheets. Still trying to find my "Disposable organ" fire extinguisher.
disabled modeler Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I once got a 65 Chevelle wagon kit because I love wagons and once I got home and opened it up I found it had a 63 Impala HT kit inside???
vypurr59 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Here is a good instruction blooper for you. Testors Lincoln Mint collection Charger Daytona RT In this step, notice the pin locators on the upper block portion in relation to the front cover. The very next step, notice the pin locators again. In the interior, look at the vent on the rear of the console, shows it on the topside But in the next photo, it shows it on the bottom. Guess it lost something in the translation. LOL
935k3 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 And forget "Do not pace bag over head only to suffocate"

LOL Now I have to go out and look at my kid Sister's '06 SE to see what way the console vent actually sits!
LDO Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I saw a thread like this a while back. There was a photo from an Asian kit with English paint colors listed. One was "semi-gross black". Hey, relax, it's only SEMI gross.
slusher Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I once got a 65 Chevelle wagon kit because I love wagons and once I got home and opened it up I found it had a 63 Impala HT kit inside??? Mark, did you keep the 63 or go back and get the wagon or both?????
checkmate Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 How about a Back to the Future Delorean? Or should I say Derolian.
disabled modeler Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Mark, did you keep the 63 or go back and get the wagon or both????? The place it came from was 125 miles away so I just kept it besides the shop like most will not take a kit back once it has been opened.
1972coronet Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) - "Pontica" GTO (the horrid years of RC2 ; "reprint" of the 1980's MPC issue of the 1967 GTO). - "Wild" Bill Strawberry (meant to read " Shrewsberry ") on the instruction sheet for the original issue of the Revell 1969 Dart GTS 383 . These same instructions also mentioned "Kick" Landy ! I can't recall where I read this classic Shakesphere-esque line , but it was mentioned in some instructions for some item : " To be remove , is to be install . Noble in it's use ." niteowl7710 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I don't count the bad machine translation of Japanese into English as a "blooper".
Deano Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I don't count the bad machine translation of Japanese into English as a "blooper". But ... but ... some of those are CLASSIC! "Unglue this here". And who can forget the "American Violence" series of kits from (I believe) ARII ("Feel the rumble in your bowels")
1972coronet Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 But ... but ... some of those are CLASSIC! "Unglue this here". And who can forget the "American Violence" series of kits from (I believe) ARII ("Feel the rumble in your bowels") "When you're driving in your Chevy , and you feel something heavy ..." Many of these bloopers are due to the poor translation between practically every foreign language and just about every dialect of the English language (including -but not limited to- regional dialect). The English language , by nature , is a slang language ; then one factors-in contractions ( e.g. , "can't" versus "can not" ). Also , Japanese is quite literal in its practise . As far as I'm aware , no "swear" words exist in Japanese (!) , only slang-applications (or , double-entendres if you prefer). Never-the-less , these bloopers are quite humourous !
FordRodnKustom Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Some box art mistakes, from the 60's. It happened then, it happens now.
Tom Geiger Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I don't count the bad machine translation of Japanese into English as a "blooper". Those same guys moved to Nigeria and are now in the email business! :-)
