bobthehobbyguy Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Great job on the paint. That clear coat is super shiney. Is that how it comes out of the can? bobthehobbyguy
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Whoa...slick !!! Just goes to remind us all that a modeler can get first rate results from rattle cans with practice and talent applied. Very nice.
Skydime Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Paint looks real slick. I know it's just a reflection but, the pic with the checkerboard down the driver side sure looks great.
cobraman Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Very, very nice work. Glad that you kept the stock roof height. They look good chopped too but I like to see a stock roof once in a while.
Ramfins59 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Beautiful paint and clearcoat. You have every right to be a happy camper. I can't wait to see it foiled and all put together.

crazyrichard Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) thnx guys !!!! and bob yes that is how it comes out of the can .. no polish and well i wont polish it after all there is just no need at all .. i also didnt polish the body before clear , afraid i would rub of the black .. i have to be hounest these cans are like magic , cheap and they spray so good and i never had orange peel .. never .. this paint doesnt matter what color always sprays 100% flat .. and the chrome i do is the same brand and silver that turns out a bit chrome lik .. not real chrome off-course but ... so thats kind of why istill didnt go airbrush ... i would have to buy colors , put them in spray , clean everything ... i'm a bit to lazy for that or more like hmmzzzz but one day i will have to go and try my airbrush ... because truth is when i want to start and use real crazy colors there is no substitute for the airbrush ... anyway just took some pictures outside and well ...pffftt i took it out of the cubbord and went ooh yes .. went outside and all the stuff just hit the paint , the sky and ..... when its on the wheels i think the sides also will look even better then you will have the ground surface hitting the body and reflect , that also is rounded so i recon that will give nice efefcts also i just love how the body lines get accentuated by the light hitting the body and luckely teh pannellines and the depth of them is spot on .. great effect with those breaking the reflection now i want to be patient .. already can toutch the paint and its hard but i'm afraid if i would hold it and apply pressure i will ruin it .. so i def. will let it harder for a while .... and finished the scratched aircleaner , the stuff in between is cloth electrical tape Edited March 1, 2014 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 gently dryfitted the new grille , sides of the grille are blacked out .. it will sit deeper but i dont want to ruin it at this point so just loosely on there .. the refs of the grille are cool then placed the hood and whouw
bpletcher55 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 RICHARD ,great job on the paint ,this build has my interest ,
cobraman Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 What brand paint did you use ? I didn't notice if you ever said except for DIY paint. How about a photo of the cans ? I would like to see if I can find some to try. Thx.
crazyrichard Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 well i am afraid they dont sell that in the usa .... they look like this
crazyrichard Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 it is well today i made a paper mold of the top of the aircleaner and scanned that in the pc and started some design in fotoshop .. the idea was a oldschool pinstripe .. but sadly it was to small to get a real nice crisp pinstripe on there .. so after a few try's i put this tiki on with a v8 logo on his head ... glued it on and made it so the paper went into the edge where the pin sits in the middle still showing the steel pin for now i put one thin coat of varnish on to seal it .. later i will mask it and spray clear coat on and try to give it real depth design wise not what i wanted but the best option for now also made the filtermaterial inbetween black .. i also have to make a distributer and wire it
crazyrichard Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 well masked it off and sprayed clear coat on it .. that brought it to life .. btw yes this is just a4 paper and not decal paper and just for fun because sometimes we forget the scale with all those close ups lol > hmm i could open a nail salon and do this on womans nails hahahahaha
crazyrichard Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 thnx guys !! just started on the distibuter and wires
