slusher Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Plymouth Barracuda Concept found this online but its dated 2012... http://twolittlecabbagesandcie.blogspot.com/2012/12/plymouth-barracuda-concept-2012.html
disabled modeler Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I think it looks pretty cool for a new car....makes me sick when they all look alike....one of the reasons I love the 60s and 70s cars.
PappyD340 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I think 2014 is the last production year for the Challenger and it's going to be replaced with a new Barracuda but they must have tweaked the prototype some because the pics that I saw not long ago it didn't look as good as the one in these pics!
The70judgeman Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I must be behind in all this. Last I heard, the 'Cuda concept was dead in the water. Also, which branch of Chrysler would actually market the car since Plymouth is obviously gone...Chrysler or Dodge? I can see SRT, but that's the "High Performance" division, and there would definitely be a model offered there. Dodge 'Cuda doesn't work for me. And Chrysler, to me, is more family oriented...not "performance" related. Can't see Plymouth being revived for just one car either. Hmmm.....a bastard car?
Evilbenny Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Challenger + J.C. Whitney catalog = Baracuda? No thank you.
iBorg Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 SRT -Cuda.....if you trust Car and Driver. Take a look at http://www.caranddriver.com/features/2015-srt-barracuda-future-cars and http://www.motorauthority.com/pictures/1026018_dodge-challenger-barracuda-concept-turns-up-at-sema_gallery-1 Looking at the net seems like everything is add on parts to the Challenger or a completely new car. With the need to compete against new Mustangs and Camaros, I'd bet a clean sheet of paper design.
The70judgeman Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 @Mike- Thanks for the links. The first one...absolutely no resemblance to anything and just plain ugly. The second one...some familiar features, but nothing I'd consider buying if it went into production. I would consider a SRT Challenger Core with some add-on goodies, but I can't afford that. And seeing as they're going bye-bye, the Challenger, I guess it's nothing to worry about for me.
FASTBACK340 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I can taste a little vomit in the back of my throat…….
iBorg Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'd actually love the first one. Not retro at all. Not sure if retro is good thinking its ran its course.
espo Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 There has been a lot of teases over the last couple of years about a car using one of Fiat's chassis with either a turbo 4 or even a V6. The concepts I remember seeing look very much like these you see here. The SEMA Gallery - 1 above looks the closest I remember being called the Baracuda. The April issue of Hot Rod magazine has a short interview with Ralph Gilles, CEO of the SRT brand for Chrysler. In it he is asked about the future of the next Challenger and other models. Gives you a little more insight into what manufactures are facing and what Chrysler may or may not be doing in time to come.
slusher Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) If they build a Cuda it will sell. Edited February 13, 2014 by slusher
om617 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 SRT -Cuda.....if you trust Car and Driver. With the need to compete against new Mustangs and Camaros, I'd bet a clean sheet of paper design. The SRT design from Car & Driver looks great imo. Agressive and nice bodylines, and if i make an effort i can see some 70 Cuda on the grill and rear panels. That Sema thing looks horrible lol.
slantasaurus Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I think Revell might have used that Cuda as reference when making the wheel lips for the 70 Hemicuda kit.
Skydime Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Doors back look like a Camaro...except taillights and rear bumper. (Looks very much based on 99ish Mustang to me) Front end looks like about 10 Mustang concepts combined. Not saying anything bad, just saying. As far as that interior...it looks really tight and like its ready to get down to business. Edited February 13, 2014 by Skydime
