bryan_m Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks Bryan! youre welcome! i had to come back in and look at it again. i agree with john too, your weathering is very restrained, very realistic lookin......most weathered builds, and im probably guilty of it too, look like the builder used every technique at his disposal. i usually just use the salt technique, and mig powders though.... i try to stay away from "overkill" keep this one goin, im really liking it, ill be watchin this one. cheers bryan
Karl LaFong Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Looks good - just the right amount of weathering. Great idea for the headliner! Rust rules!
Baugher Garage Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks all! I thought the weathering was way overkill at first, but it's growing on me.
FASTBACK340 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Just watch how you ask for a "teabag". You've been fooled in the Village, huh? <Shhh!> Before it gets stooopid Edited February 14, 2014 by FASTBACK340

crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 awsome idea that headliner and looks great !!
ratdoggy Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The headliner does look great. BTW what is the "salt technique"? I'm new to the new stuff.
David G. Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Good rust effects, great headliner work! David G.
Baugher Garage Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 Finally got some foil added to the stainless trim. I cheated and used 3M metal repair foil tape instead of the *official* Bare Metal Foil. Seems to work pretty good for the straight trim. Body damage... Fins turned out nice! Front end has seen better days...
1 bad55 stan Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'm liking this,some neat detail work.
Baugher Garage Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) Thanks! I got the rear glass installed (with a couple of bullet holes and cracks. Excuse the crate of junk on the trunk... Also have inspiration pics gathered for the seats. http://s1295.photobucket.com/user/BaugherGarage/slideshow/Seat%20examples Edited February 19, 2014 by Baugher Garage
ratdoggy Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Is this going to be a diorama? Looks great!
1 bad55 stan Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 This is such a neat build, the thumbs up from me,your skills are tops.
Baugher Garage Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Is this going to be a diorama? Looks great! I haven't decided yet. Just trying to get the car done at this point... Thanks!
Baugher Garage Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Front bench seat is finished. This is my first attempt and making a ratty old seat. I continued to utilize the used tea bags from the kitchen. I have found that this material is ideal for the seat fabric and the seat stuffing, as it's fibers look right at 1:24/25 scale. The seat turned out a little grungier than I hoped, but I don't always know when enough is enough... the seat springs, visible in the holes, are a little too large for scale, but again, my first attempt... just bent some small gauge wire with tweezers. *I'm also keeping all the tea leaves from my wife's various herbal teas - she's saving all her tea bags for me! The various ground up leaves make great dirt, saw dust, etc.
JunkPile Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Nice job Mike. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me coming back to MCM over and over again. Some of your ideas will be stolen and used by me.
Baugher Garage Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks Chuck! It's all experimental, so steal away my friend!
