kilrathy10 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) Got a Volvo going, here....As most of you know, I've run out of orange paint, but I've got a good crop of Duplicolor Navy Blue on the shelf....I guess this is going to be my next fleet color.....Nothing special, here....Just a plain jane workhorse Volvo....I see a lot of these around here, and I finally got around to building one for myself.....And with the Moebius 53' trailer out, now....This ought to be a pretty cool model....I've got a headache rack for it just in case I decide to use it for a flatbed or a dropdeck, instead, but We'll see.....Well, that's what I kinda want to do, anyway, but here it is..... slusher Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I will be tuned in JT, as I love your builds. Orange has been your trade mark. Looking forward to the build...
blackbeard Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I second that will be following this build
alangarber Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That looks terrible, someone send that man a can of orange paint.
tbill Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 had I known you were out of orange paint, I would have sent some with the trailer can't wait to see how this one turns out, love your builds.
Kostas Parchas Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 What a shame these kits are without an engine and the steering is fixed not working. JT this one will be a great start of the blue fleet. Keep it coming. Kostas.
Brinx Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (sound of a record needle scratching across a 33 1/3) WHAT???... no more orange? Here, I'll send you some.... (looking forward to seeing the new fleet JT!)
kilrathy10 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 I'm almost done with this thing...Still gotta add some tail lights and a light bar to the headache rack, but I'll get to that.....Time to focus on the trailer, now....
Jim B Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Very nice looking Volvo! Even if it isn't orange.
Kostas Parchas Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 JT, You are too fast!!! I like this kit a lot and I am mad with me that I only have one in my stash. You did it real good and I love what you did to the headache rack. Pease accept my advice about the new fleet color, it is nice but it is too dark. Maybe you should mix it with white to take 1 or 2 tones lighter shade. This dark shade you have is hiding many details. If its not too late for the build, please shoot as many photos as you can of the WIP of the trailer. Keep it coming, Kostas.
olsbooks Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Another fine one and it is pretty obvious you are never going to live down the orange. BTW - while in Dollar General, I found some decent animals for $1 that look about right for 1/25. Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh MY!. Seriously lots of dogs, cattle, sheep, all that. I think they are by the same outfit that does the people you found at Hobby Lobby or at least are in the clear "tube" like Hobby Lobby. If they dont have them there and you want some, just PM me. I really like the headache rack. Thanks for sharing. Edited February 18, 2014 by olsbooks
kilrathy10 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 Kostas, I've noticed the same thing....I think the next few builds will have a fade job with a lighter blue I, also, had acquired plenty of.... We're on the same page, but as this wasn't one of my best builds, hidden details is a good thing...lol ... And Thanks, Jesse, for the tip....I'm always at Dollar General....It's amazing what you can stumble onto in there....They just seem to get some the coolest stuff...You never know what you're gonna find.... Thanks, James....I gotta tell ya, I'm looking for some more orange....I really like that color....I don't see abandoning it....Makes models look good and they pop out so much better..... And Earl....I gotta get some more lines from you.....I'll get with you, soon....
kilrathy10 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Now that's a nice looking truck....Real nice orange color scheme....
Diesel Jockey Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 JT, Your VN 670 in dark blue looks great! I take it that it is a metallic blue? All it needs is a good gloss clear coat to make it pop! I have a 2 VN780's that I am working on that are nearly finished. One in a metallic red/clear coat with a gold chassis and the other in an indigo/purple metallic/clear coat with a black chassis. I think these VN Volvos look better in a dark colour!
kilrathy10 Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Thanks, Anthony....I appreciate that....I got the trailer almost done, now.....Just need to fix where some Plastruct Weld dripped on the side of the trailer.....I couldn't believe I did that.....Made me cuss a little, but I'm ok.....I can fix it....Just glad I hadn't cleared it, yet.... metalhead Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Awesome! The trailer looks really good, too! If you don't mind me asking, what was your preferred method of assembling the trailer? For the life of me, I couldn't get the sides to fit. I cut the tabs off and tried to line them up a little bit at a time. Still, I had gaps and steps. Finally, after a fit of rage that I can relate to a pack of ravaging, howling dogs from down under, I gave it to my friend. You make it seem so easy.
Kostas Parchas Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Ready to hit the roads!!! Congratulations JT, another one superb build!!! I am curious about your fleet depot, it must be huge, show us where you keep all this beauties. Kostas.
Rigzndiesel Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 JT Very nice looking truck and trailer. I like it...I like it a lot!! I'm curious too, where do you keep all these ultra long combos? Jeff
