sjordan2 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) Recently, I've been surprised to see comments about, "what does our moderator, Harry P. do?" Well, Harry and many more of our members concentrate on larger-scale builds in the "Big Boyz" section. If you don't visit there, you'll see some of the best work available on this forum. I don't know why big-scale builds have to be segregated, but I I highly recommend that you put this on your watch list. Here's a current thread with one of the best builds I've ever seen here. 12 astounding pages. And did I mention the work of John Teresi and Hawk 312, among many others? All of their techniques are transferrable to any scale. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85253&page=1 Edited March 4, 2014 by sjordan2
Harry P. Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Believe it or not, there are people here who have never even scrolled all the way down the page! I've had people tell me they didn't even know anything "below the fold" existed here because they had literally never scrolled down. Unbelievable!
cobraman Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Anyone who is interested in models and such owe it to themselves to at least check in on all the different areas at least once in awhile.
sjordan2 Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 For the second or third times, I have expressed to Gregg my concerns about having a separate thread for Big Boyz, but I have never received an answer.
Harry P. Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 For the second or third times, I have expressed to Gregg my concerns about having a separate thread for Big Boyz, but I have never received an answer. I can tell you his answer. He wants large scale models separated. Don't ask me to explain it, but that's what he wants. I'm sure he has his reasons.
tbill Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 wow, I feel sorry for the people that miss out on the trucks, rigs, large scale, dio's etc. many of the models aren't my cup of tea, but I can sure appreciate what it takes to build them, and I learn a lot of stuff browsing thru things. only downside I have discovered, is it makes me buy more kits
jeffs396 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 If we just use the 'View New Content' linky, you catch ALL new content, regardless of forum section. You can then choose what interests you from there
Harry P. Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Not everyone uses that. Some don't even know it exists.
Belugawrx Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I've visited, and commented, on every category here on the site, it's my curiosity in other scales, tips, procedures, and just the pure joy of knowing there are others like me out there somewhere,....... OMG almost broke into song there.... Anyways to each his/her own if they want to know more they will adventure off their beaten path! Happy Modelling
o-man Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Yeah, I used to wonder if Harry just made comments about lack of rear view mirrors. Then I did see some of his work in the other sections and was very impressed! I usually check out all the sections a couple times a day and found out about the new content button a few months ago.
hgbben Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I agree what amazing talent has come from the Big Boyz section. Every build that I see there are works of art. Keep up the great work fellas.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 What about a pool to end the "Big Boyz" section? We as users have to have some power. Right?
ewaskew Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I think its good that the big scale topic's are separate from the others because when you go there that's all there is,.and nothing gets mixed up and lost in 1/24 and1/25 scale topics, since not to many people build big scale kits. I believe they would get over looked even more if they were mixed in with the small scale builds. Anyone that doesn't go there and look around is missing out on some great & well detailed building going on. I don't care if I like the model topic being worked on or not its the talent and detail that I look at anyway no matter what scale it is. So if your reading this go to the bottom of the page and see what you've been missing. God Bless
High octane Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Those "big scale" model car kits sure do take up a lot of room, maybe that's why some of us overlook that section???
ewaskew Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 What about a pool to end the "Big Boyz" section? We as users have to have some power. Right? Every section is here for a reason,no need to end any of them. God Bless
Greg Cullinan Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 The Problem I have is the amount of info and endless sub forums, all full of quality viewing and information and my limited time.? I try to browse everything when I have time, on my quick visits I look at general and under glass.
slusher Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I read in most every section. I enjoy all of the forum...
Belugawrx Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 What about a pool to end the "Big Boyz" section? We as users have to have some power. Right? ???
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 ??? Ending the segregation based on scale??? Example: 1/12 cars being posted on the same place as 1/25 cars. 1/8 cars WIPs being posted on the same section of 1/25 cars WIPs??? Got it?? If having a Big Boys section is so necessary, I suggest the creation of the tiny boyz section, for models smaller then 1/25 scale, and changing the name of the "Model Cars" section to "1/25 scale Model Cars", after all, big scale MODEL CARS are model cars too...
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Every section is here for a reason,no need to end any of them. God Bless I would love to know the reason.
Rob Hall Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 It's better to have lots of sections than the horrific single page style with lots of scrolling seen on some older forums. We need more sections, though---especially for racing subjects, where there is inexplicably only 2 sections, neither a general one.
om617 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I just recently found out about drag racing, trucks and other stuff, been here close to an year
pharoah Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I don't check every section. But I looka t several. I like large scale,so I go there. Harry builds really nice models.
Danno Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Pass the word: Use "View New Content" and miss nothing!
