When you are driving down the street or highway and see bolts on the ground. What part of the car or truck were they holding in place?

Pretty scary huh, a bolt on the road jumps out to my eyes more then a broken bottle.

I think where I live they all must be to the exhaust . Seems like nobody in this town has a muffler.

You would be surprised how many bolts fly off flat bed trailers pulled by pick ups that junk cars and deal with cars. I have seen this many times when there empty and loaded. I speed up and get past them.

I'm just happy when another one doesn't end up on one of my tires..............again!

Or kicked up by tires into your windshield!

Years ago I saw a torque convertor on the side of the Long Island Expressway…. gave me a chuckle thinking about how bad THAT wreck was!

Usually you see bolts, nuts, and metal on commercial access highways where scrap trucks come through around here. I doubt there's THAT many hack mechanics out there leaving stuff loose….. :o

I did see a whole muffler a few weeks back on a bad stretch of road, and were talking so BAD I won't drive my 200 down it until at least late spring or the overpass is compleated, which ever comes later.

Good point Joe, when I lived in Chicago you would see a muffler off on the shoulder of the express way often...

Actually, this was in the middle of the road in a construction zone :o Luckily it was on the dividing line between the east and west bound lanes.

I think they were holding Loti together. Every Lotus I've ever owned or driven has had a strange penchant for shedding parts for no particular reason.

Perhaps they all just wanted to be lighter.

Yer , it seems my tyres are magnetic and pick them up .

The main roads near me have a lot of stop and go traffic so I always browse the left shoulder and see what trash is up against the highway divider. The vast array of car parts amazes me, everything from bolts and brackets to whole grills and bumpers. And this is on car only roads do this stuff didn't fall off a truck

The last time I drove through there, there were enough parts laying along the roadside to build an entire car, complete with your choice of bumpers!!

I won't lie, I'm almost afraid to take my 200 down some of these roads here since it has the factory installed 18's and has 4 wheel independant suspension........ not too worried about my Jeep as it still rolls on 15's with nearly 29" tall A/T's and has 2 solid axles, although it almost needs to be set up as a pre-runner/JeepSpeed rig to run Rt. 38 west of St. Charles/Geneva right now....................

Nope.
