1967 Cadillac - Finished - A gift for my Brother

Well, my insomnia is hitting me hard tonight so I decided to take and post some pics of this '67 Cadillac model that I finished. To recap what I put in the WIP thread, I built this model as a surprise gift for my younger brother who lives in New Hampshire. He used to own a 4 door Sedan DeVille that was baby blue and white in color with a white interior. He sold the car about 10 years ago.

Since no model or promo of a 4 door Sedan DeVille was made I picked up a Coupe DeVille promo on EBAY for a reasonable price. The passenger side A pillar was cracked which is probably why I was able to get it for a good price. Some CA glue fixed the pillar and after sanding off the mold lines and priming and painting and clearing it twice (don't ask..) I did the BMF work. The grille was blackwashed and I glued some clear headlight lenses over the chrome ones to improve the looks of them. I attached some thin plastic strip around the rear base of the roof for a trim/separation line. The wipers were hit with a black Sharpie marker and an outside mirror was added to the driver's door. On the hood and trunk I added teeny tiny Cadillac Crest decals that I cut out of the Caddy Sombrero hubcap decals from the Revell '49 Merc (I used a tiny pair of babies nail scissors using my Optivisor !!!)

The paints used were Duplicolor Arctic White on the roof and Krylon Peekaboo Blue (Baby Blue) on the body. The whole car was then clearcoated with Model Master Clear Gloss Enamel.

The interior was painted Duplicolor White primer then sprayed with Tamiya semi-gloss clear. The carpet was flocked black and BMF was applied to the dashboard, steering wheel, door panel and speaker details. Black Detailer brought out the dashboard gauge panel and vent details. Sheet plastic visors, a dome light and an interior mirror were added, along with pieces of shirt pins for shifter and turn signal levers. Resin window cranks, painted chrome silver, were added to the door panels as the molded ones had no depth to them.

I'll be double boxing this Caddy with bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts for it's USPS terror trip up to New Hampshire so I'm sure it will arrive in perfect condition.

This was a fun project for me and I am imagining the big smile on my brother's face when he opens the box.

Wow Rich! Another outstanding beauty! I'm in the process of combining one of the original, and "re-pop" versions of Revell's, Jaguar XKE for my brother's fiftieth birthday. Of course that was a year and a half ago, so when I do see him again it will be a long over-do surprise. I built a '40 Ford delivery for my Doctor a few years ago and he got a big kick out of it. I love building for myself, but I always seem to do a better job when I'm doing one for someone else. Anyway....nice job on this Caddy!
