Dave Van Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I have been in a bit of a slump. Grabbed a 1970's era AMT kit that was minus vent windows and built a kinda moonshiners car. Box stock, Duplicolor Hot Rod Primer rubbed out for a semi gloss. Weathering is chalks and washes of alcohol and chalks. A one day project to get me rolling again. A little red Carolinia clay dust and mud....... Thanks for lookin!!!
PappyD340 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Looks real good to me Dave, nice job on the waethering too!

1 bad55 stan Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Very cool and you built it in 1 day...Fantastic!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Looks good. Missing a headlight tough. very realistic moonshine hauler.
Frank Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Nice build and weathering. I have one problem, the headlight rims can't rust they're diecast
rmvw guy Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Nice job on a one day build. Perfect classic kit to do it with.
Dave Van Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Nice build and weathering. I have one problem, the headlight rims can't rust they're diecast Ever been to the backwoods of the Carolina's???? Thats not rust but red brown Carolina clay that sticks to everything!! I tried to make it look as if it was driven on wet Carolina clay roads and not washed.....at least not yet!!!! Missing headlight and vent windows is one reason I pulled the kit from the stash.....no collector value......so BUILD IT!! If any one has an extra I'll install it.....if not the Govment Men shot it out!! Thanks
southpier Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) there are no bad 40 fords Edited March 25, 2014 by southpier

Tom Geiger Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Very cool build. Fix the headlight... first rule of moon shine or drug running is to not get pulled over for an equipment violation!
Duntov Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Yep----been around since 1959-1960 and in about ten million different re-releases and still a fantastic stand-by classic!!!!! Nice job!!!! (I always have a few of these in my store of kits-----)
Dave Van Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Very cool build. Fix the headlight... first rule of moon shine or drug running is to not get pulled over for an equipment violation! As soon as he gets paid for that run!!!!
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Nice. The 40 Ford is always a cool project. The weathering is perfect.
crazyrichard Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 nice !! one small thing i would have compltly covered the tyres in the mud / dirt stuff and then wiped or the thread and the inner part of the side walls .. i think then its perfect and that will also give more of a drove trhough the dirt look .. thats why people thought it was rust i think ?but absolutly love this build .. the paint with the dirt on it just ouzes characther .. love it
Silver Foxx Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Great work on this , it is easy to overdo the weathering on a model , but this is well done , looks so right .

Thanks No I haven't but Florida and Georgia has similar dirt? ...and Funny when I looked at this build that what came to my mind was the red dirt of the south. Excellent Job on this '40...!!! Love the "Shine" runners...!! Great job on the tires too...Looks very realistic to me !
