I built the Packard years ago, I seem to remember the plastic was a little odd compared to other kits. It's long gone now, sadly. Good luck with collecting the set!

Rob Mattis indicated someone should contact Round 2 and have them find the molds. Rounds 2 would not have the old Renwal molds. If they exists any more, they would be owned by Revell. Revell is the owner of Renwal's stuff. Like the Visible V8 and others. So one needs to contact Revell, not Round 2.

I don't think it would be wise to release this series today. I don't believe these set any sales records when new and they fall into that "a few $$$ sales on eBay doesn't translate to selling 5000 copies at regular kit prices". I remember seeing those on the shelf when I was a kid, and I wasn't interested. They are also pretty crude as kits. The appeal is very limited.

Maybe. But, I for one would buy at least one of each. Plus we can dream, can't we Tom?

Yes Scott, I'd buy them too. But I take the 58 in your signature to be that you are the same age as me (1958). But we are few in numbers. And half of our herd would hold out and pray that these got to the closeout store before they'd buy. I'd rather have Revell not lose their shirts on these, they have way more important work to do!

Tom your right on everything your saying. But, why are you saying it? I know that odds of Revell ever reissuing these kits are nil. And your right, they may lose money if they chose to. But I would still love to see them do it! I'm not holding my breath. But, I'm amazed at the kits that reappeared on the market in the last ten years that I thought I would never be seen again. And I'm thankful, and have bought several of those kits. And some may not have been wise for the model companies to reissue.

What I don't understand is the negative opinions of several people on web sites like this, when people express an idea like mine. Which may or may not be practical. Or what they want!

Don't worry Tom, I'm not in charge of what model companies release or do not. I'm not going to say they don't listen to me. I've gotten several nice replies from Revell on things I'd like to see. The reissue of the '58 Corvette is one. The old Space Station released only once in 1959. I've been told not to expect. The tooling is gone for that. Now I know Revell is not just reissuing their '58 Corvette because I wanted one. But, I thank them for listening and telling of their plans to reissue it.

So Revell, if you can. Please reissue the old Renwal Revival kits. If you don't, I understand. But, I still think it would be cool.

One last thing Tom. You are right. I was born in 1958.

Scott, I'm not negative. I'm one of the greatest cheerleaders for the model companies. I defend them all the time on the boards. But I'm a realist. And having an engineering and business background, I enjoy learning and watching the business end of the hobby too. I do know a good many people, and I hear a lot of information from people inside the model companies, hobbyists who work with them and sometimes second hand. I've heard what works and what doesn't. I know the current strategies of the model companies.

So when someone asks "why don't they do a ???" I can pretty much answer it. I do agree that we have game changers on a regular basis. Moebius popped up out of nowhere and is doing kits nobody would have thought we'd ever see. Now Meng shows up with a modern Ford pickup, who would've thunk? So there are a lot of things that are possible today. And I'd love to be proven wrong!

It's rumored that the molds don't even exist for these anymore. I would love to see them re-issued. Just for the simple fact that I could complete the builds of the series without breaking the bank. But, if it has to be, I'll simply wait until I can score them, one at a time, as I got this one. I wasn't there to buy them new. When they were 20 years old, I figured they'd be around whenever I wanted them. I was wrong. Guess it just goes to show, if you want something........and you think the price is right............you better get it. Or, it may not be there anymore. I'll just wait.....and dream. Eventually, I'll get them.

Go to that auction place model car category and type in "Renwal" . I did last evening and nearly the whole series popped up. They are out there!

The box illustrations are done by Virgil Exner himself.

I know, Tom, but they aren't cheap!

It's all relative... are they cheaper than a tank of gas... a case of good beer... carton of butts, dinner out with the wife? Life has gotten so expensive that a $50 kit is only twice what a new one costs today.

These kits didn't sell well . I picked up a built one at a model show for $8. If the molds were found it would be an exercise in losing money, this would be a statement about it.

" how do you make a million dollars selling model kits? Start with two million."
