Brianl Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 My first post in the Drag Racing catagory ! Started with the Hippie Hemi... threw the body into the parts box (good bits for custom pannels etc) & scratch built a little period flat wrap shell Nice, well detailed Hemi, looked good with the yellow block & simple black frame so I kept the decorations to a minimum. I know the Class is wrong but I liked the script! It turned out to be a sweet build & looks good on the shelf! Brian
hemi Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 This makes me want to buy the kit now,I hated the thought of that kit before now, Great work beautiful build.
microboyca Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Very sweet build Brian.Hmm.. saw a Hippie Hemi at the LHS last time I was there, looks like a good base for all kinds of variants!Cheers. Ron.
Mack_Mechanic Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 A nice sharp,clean build you have there Brian.
Daddyfink Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 The Hippie Hemi is the Don Garlits Wynn's Jammer FED minus the body
Brianl Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 Thanks for the comments gentlemen The sketch on the side of the box showed a nice chassis etc & thats why I bought it. I won't comment on the body.... And yes, it was based on the Garlitts kit which I don't think I have ever seen! Would be nice. One thing to think about. I don't know what sort of power they were getting back then but it was a hemi, it was blown & Garlitts was good so it would be big, then look at the chassis, short, light, single role bar & the kit has nice detailed drum brakes !! They were heroes! Thanks again Brian
BirdWatcher Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I like it, great build! The engine looks perfect.
Hondo Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) That turned out really sharp. I like that one ! Edited April 8, 2014 by Hondo

10thumbs Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I was going to ask about the A/A? Wouldn't that ride be an A/D? I love the old rail dragsters. Michael
gasser59 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I was thinking this looked a lot like the Garlits rail. Now I think I need one myself. Nicely build lil' digger.
