Danno Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Danno, you need that. Badly.................. G Oh, yeah. That LOOKS like something I'd drive, doesn't it? Question for you ~ is that the Quad logo on the folding sports chair behind it? Is this something from The Quad's collection?
Agent G Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Most likely it is, but I don't remember that one. The exhibit has been closed to the public due to all the recent rennovation there. I'll get inside eventually, I do after all have to inspect the premises. G
charlie8575 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 What's that from? More to the point, WHAT is it?? It's cool! Charlie Larkin
Greg Myers Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 What's that from? Saw it on this H.A.M.B. site http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=859409 no text.
Danno Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Well, it's from the Grand National Roadster Show, we now know that much.
Danno Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Here's the rear. Where's Art the Automotive Encyclopedia when we need him?
Greg Wann Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) That might be a car Howard Hughes used to own. It might be setting at the Metro Center Mall in one of the empty store fronts that has some cars on loan from around the country. Edited April 18, 2014 by Greg Wann
Danno Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I've got to get down there (Metro Center) and check those out! I've heard they are the cars from the now-defunct Pavilions car museum.
ChrisBcritter Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I'd lay odds it's one of those oversized "speedsters" we've been seeing lately, made by throwing a whole lot of money at a shortened vintage firetruck chassis.
Danno Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I'd lay odds it's one of those oversized "speedsters" we've been seeing lately, made by throwing a whole lot of money at a shortened vintage firetruck chassis. It does have a chain drive, doesn't it?
Joe Handley Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I'd lay odds it's one of those oversized "speedsters" we've been seeing lately, made by throwing a whole lot of money at a shortened vintage firetruck chassis. That's what I'm thinking too, Leno has had a couple on his YouTube channel in the last year or so.
mrindy77 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Oh, yeah. That LOOKS like something I'd drive, doesn't it? Question for you ~ is that the Quad logo on the folding sports chair behind it? Is this something from The Quad's collection? The chair is from the Quail Motorsports Gathering....a concourse much like Pebble Beach.
Bill J Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 The logo on the front fender identifies the car as a Swiss Army Car
mrindy77 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I was leaning towards a custom bodied Hispano-Suiza but it's hard to tell what the radiator mascot is. Hispano had a stork in flight. The badge/emblem on the radiator looks Hispano.
mrindy77 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Here is a 1937 Rolls Royce from the Quail. Edited April 19, 2014 by mrindy77
mrindy77 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Found it....1917 La Bestioni Beast. Custom build from Gary Wales American LaFrance engine. Here is another one he did.
