Modelbuilder Mark Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Imagine it! A small scale, in color, version of you to pose with your scale creations! I saw this article today at Yahoo, and thought several of you may enjoy it. The prices is a little high for me, but certainly not obsene. https://www.yahoo.com/tech/such-a-doll-get-yourself-scanned-and-printed-in-3d-83592431558.html They use a full scan to capture the image, then create the 3D color print. They look pretty cool for sure.

Jantrix Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Yeah, like I would want a miniature of a chubby guy with a thinning hairline.
bbowser Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 The ultimate for narcissists. Like Rob said, no one wants to see a mini-me!
Deano Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 The ultimate for narcissists. Like Rob said, no one wants to see a mini-me! I think it would be great to have a 1/24 scale "mini me" to put in my shop diorama. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) they only go down to 1/20 scale, but someday ... perhaps ...
johnbuzzed Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 When the price comes down, and the scale is right, I'll probably get a couple of my wife and I. Many years back I made a Fujimi garage diorama; one of the later additions to that diorama was a cut-out picture of me looking in the window of the garage. Why not have scale reproductions of yourself in with your models? They are your own little world; you can do whatever you want to.

Joe Handley Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I got to talk to somebody who does that today, a figure of me that would be about the right size to fit in my scale XJ R/C truck (1/10~1/8, the scale is a bit fuzzy) would be around $99-$150 to have one made.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Glad you guys got a kick out of it. If any of you ever do it, would be interested to see it.
Chuck Most Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I'd do it, but then I'd get sick of hearing "Hey, where did you get that figure of that Jace guy from Duck Dynasty?" all the time..
crazyrichard Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) nono i have it this is cool , truckdrivers >> instead of small pictures of family you can now glue the 3d version on your dash and they always ride with you !! i thik the idea is pretty cool lets say you have family far away print yourself and mail it to them .. stuff like that only downside is that its still pretty expensive .. i saw a designer in holland who printed 3-d high heel shoes that woman can really wear ... stuff is really taking off ... again only thing holding it back still are the prices and also modelbuild wise i still believ it has no soul .... only cool like to print rims or small parts but only to compliment a kit thats been build Edited April 26, 2014 by crazyrichard
