simonr Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Today we are exact a whole year ahead for, in my personal opnion, the most professional model car show in the whole word. I have heard from some friends and have read in the GSL site there's a wide variety of special activities planned for this 25th edition...I'll be there, to much fun to miss, and friends...oh yes, and another expedtion for the cronw burger!! Simón P. Rivera Torres
Mooneyzs Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I am planning on going to the GSL next year. Its been on my Bucket list of shows to do for quite some time. I want to experience the whole 4 days. I would love to take my Army Vega Funny Car to this show. Crown Burgers is really good there. I used to travel to Hill Air Force Base (which is in Ogden and its about 30 minutes North of Salt Lake) for one of the Aerospace companies that I worked for. We always stayed in Layton just a mile or two down the road from the South Gate but we would always at least go to Crown Burger off Antelope on our trips there. There were a few other great places we used to eat at by the Hilton garden Inn that we stayed at most of the time. Roosters Brewing Company and Corbins Grille, as well as Iggy's sports grill
Lordmodelbuilder Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Planning on being there. Great show and people. Fun time.

Bobdude Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 As a charitable non-profit institution, how come the Model Car Museum is only open 3 days every 2 years?
High octane Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Not me, I've been is Salt Lake City back in '78 and that was enough for me. I even met up with Mark Gustaveson and checked out his 1:1 cars as well. I then headed to Reno as I spent a month out West that year.
Modlguy Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 A number of us from the Tri-State Scale Model Car Club are planning on attending. Even though it comes on the heels of NNL East we haven't been out there in years and it's time to go back. Certainly a unique experience that every model car builder should plan to make at some point. And I am working on a clone that is long overdue is now on a "no excuses" agenda for completion by 2015.
mcandela Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I'll be there.. Started in 2011, went back in 2013. Next year will be the 25 anniversary. We can't miss that one, right? Chas, Crown burger it is. It would be great if each one of us from this forum put a nametag on with our avatar name. That way we get to know everybody we talk to here.
Modelmartin Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 we haven't been out there in years and it's time to go back. Seriously? I heard so many east coast accents while I was there I thought I was in New Jersey!
sfhess Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 (edited) I plan to be there for GSL 25. If you are planning to be in Salt Lake during non-GSL times you can contact Mark in advance and make arrangements for a tour of the Museum. Edited May 5, 2014 by sfhess
Modlguy Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Seriously? I heard so many east coast accents while I was there I thought I was in New Jersey! Andy, So many people want to be Jerseyans they imitate us. Accept no sustitutions.
Danno Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 As a charitable non-profit institution, how come the Model Car Museum is only open 3 days every 2 years? You should change your handle to Bob'tude.
Tim Pentecost Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I'll be there...the Lord willing and the creek don't rise!!!! TimP
Danno Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I plan to attend, also. Hey, Tim! Would you stop and pick me if you see me . . . 'standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona?'
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 It is certainly on my to do list, hopefully I can make it happen.
Bobdude Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 What is the reasoning you came up with to determine I have an attitude just from asking a question.
Tom Geiger Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 As Bill said above the Tri-State group has missed the last two GSLs, having been to the four or so prior to this. For me, in 2011 I had just got a new job and was busy moving my life from NJ to PA. By 2013 I had lost the job that caused that move, so I wasn't going to spend the money while unemployed. I am currently working a good consulting gig, so as long as it lasts, I'm there!
Modelmartin Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Andy, So many people want to be Jerseyans they imitate us. Accept no sustitutions. I may be a Minnesotan but I love the east coast and the people. If I wasn't so quiet I would fit right in! My mother and grandparents were from NYC. My father in law was originally from Flemington. My wife wants to be a "Jerseyan". We go back often and love it. It's a breath of fresh air for us.
curt raitz Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I originated in Minnesota (Bemidji) in 1950, but I'm a Californian all the way...since 1963 Anyplace east of the Mississippi is too humid for me My buddy Raul Perez and I are planning on making an appearance @ the GSL next year It'll be the 1st appearance at the GSL for both of us.
Art Laski Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I plan to attend, also. Hey, Tim! Would you stop and pick me if you see me . . . 'standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona?' Really? Man, if Danno's going, I'm going! Actually, after going for the first time in 2011, I don't want to miss another one as long as I am in this hobby. -Art
