I picked up this kit of Monogram's '48 Ford Woody at a swap meet some time ago. Although opened, the guy assured me all the parts were there. Wrong! Thanks to Barkster for the tires, and I'm trying to make do with everything else. I should have known when I saw "wood" contact paper in the box for the sides.

Anyway, I'm loving the detail of this kit, and it's going together nicely. I did make the mistake of gluing the frame parts together before I painted. Found out later I had cut the exhaust up to make it fit between the rails. When will I learn?

Wired the engine, thanks to a good wiring discussion in the Q & A section. It's not perfect, but I enjoyed the challenge

I went ahead and painted the body. Krylon Hunter Green. I actually tried to use real "stain" for the panels, but I don't think I would recommend it. Just not worth it!

The kit was also missing the decals, so I got some dial faces off of the inter-web.

For some reason it was also missing the side and rear glass, which was pretty easy to make with some clear sheet. I'm thankful it wasn't the front!

Thanks for the comments, guys! The engine is as finished as it's going to get, I think.

I ended up with the exhaust in 4 pieces, just to get it to go back between the rails. I could kick myself for that one.

Got some BMF done today. Fortunately, there's not much on this car.

Not too sure what to do about headlights as they are missing as well. I think I'll raid the parts box and see what comes up.

I really like the vintage vibe you have going on this woody...these wagons always bring up memories of the beach and surfers and girls with tans...California Dream'in. From what I can see your efforts to simulate wood with the stain came out really good.

Thanks Teddy!

I'm starting to get a bit nervous, coming down the home stretch. I've got it on all 4's now, and found some headlights that will be respectable. I'll try to get some pix tonight.

Got some pictures of the Woody on its rolling stock. I'm a bit disappointed as it looks a little off. But I really don't want to pull it apart again. What do you guys think?

Sorry for the fuzzy pictures!

Looking really good John, if its off on one side it might be something simple. Sometimes the interior is not seated well on one side. It looks good from the pictures. Your doing a great job on this build..

I took your advice and pulled it apart to even things up. I think it made a difference. Also looks better with hubcaps and chromework on it now.

John, that looks dynamite. I love the dark green color. Great job.

Thanks Richard!
